Search for Physics Beyond the Standard Model Using Multilepton Signatures in Pp Collisions at Root S=7 Tev
(Elsevier Ltd., 2011) Demir, Durmuş Ali; Karapınar, Güler
A search for physics beyond the standard model in events with at least three leptons and any number of jets is presented. The data sample corresponds to 35 pb(-1) of integrated luminosity in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. A number of exclusive multileptonic channels are investigated and standard model backgrounds are suppressed by requiring sufficient missing transverse energy, invariant mass inconsistent with that of the Z boson, or high jet activity. Control samples in data are used to ascertain the robustness of background evaluation techniques and to minimise the reliance on simulation. The observations are consistent with background expectations. These results constrain previously unexplored regions of supersymmetric parameter space. (C) 2011 CERN. Published by Elsevier B.V. Search for Supersymmetry in Pp Collisions at 7 Tev in Events With Jets and Missing Transverse Energy
    (Elsevier B.V., 2011) Khachatryan, V.; Demir, Durmuş Ali; Sirunyan, A.M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Bergauer, T.; Dragicevic, M.; Marchica, C.
A search for supersymmetry with R-parity conservation in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 35 pb −1 collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The search is performed in events with jets and significant missing transverse energy, characteristic of the decays of heavy, pair-produced squarks and gluinos. The primary background, from standard model multijet production, is reduced by several orders of magnitude to a negligible level by the application of a set of robust kinematic requirements. With this selection, the data are consistent with the standard model backgrounds, namely tt¯, W + jet and Z + jet production, which are estimated from data control samples. Limits are set on the parameters of the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model. These limits extend those set previously by experiments at the Tevatron and LEP colliders. © 2011 CMS Collaboration

Search for Supersymmetry in Pp Collisions at ?s=7tev in Events With Two Photons and Missing Transverse Energy
(American Physical Society, 2011) Karapınar, Güler; Demir, Durmuş Ali
A search for supersymmetry in the context of general gauge-mediated breaking with the lightest neutralino as the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle and the gravitino as the lightest is presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 36pb-1 recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The search is performed by using events containing two or more isolated photons, at least one hadronic jet, and significant missing transverse energy. No excess of events at high missing transverse energy is observed. Upper limits on the signal cross section for general gauge-mediated supersymmetry between 0.3 and 1.1 pb at the 95% confidence level are determined for a range of squark, gluino, and neutralino masses, excluding supersymmetry parameter space that was inaccessible to previous experiments. © 2011 American Physical Society.

    Phenomenological Aspects of U(1)' Models
(American Institute of Physics, 2009) Demir, Durmuş Ali
This talk summarizes certain phenomenological aspects of the supersymmetric models with an extra U(1) invariance broken at the TeV scale. The discussions involve the Higgs sector, CP violation, Neutrino masses and the LHC signatures.

Higgs Boson Masses in the Mssm With General Soft Breaking
(Elsevier Ltd., 2008) Sabancı, Aslı; Hayreter, Alper; Solmaz, Levent
The operators that break supersymmetry can be holomorphic or non-holomorphic in structure. The latter do not pose any problem for gauge hierarchy and are soft provided that the particle spectrum does not contain any gauge singlets. In minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM) we discuss the impact of non-holomorphic soft-breaking terms on the Higgs sector. We find that non-holomorphic operators can cause significant changes as are best exhibited by the correlation between the masses of the charginos and Higgs bosons

Phenomenological Issues in Supersymmetry With Nonholomorphic Soft Breaking
(American Physical Society, 2005) Çakır, Muammer Altan; Mutlu, Sevdiye; Solmaz, Levent
We present a through discussion of motivations for and phenomenological issues in supersymmetric models with minimal matter content and nonholomorphic soft-breaking terms. Using the unification of the gauge couplings and assuming SUSY is broken with nonstandard soft terms, we provide semianalytic solutions of the RGEs for low and high choices of tan β which can be used to study the phenomenology in detail. We also present a generic form of RGIs in mSUGRA framework which can be used to derive new relations in addition to those existing in the literature. Our results are mostly presented with respect to the conventional minimal supersymmetric model for ease of comparison.
