Comparison of Group Key Establishment Protocols
(Türkiye Klinikleri Journal of Medical Sciences, 2017) Şahin, Serap; Aslanoğlu, Rabia
Recently group-oriented applications over unsecure open networks such as Internet or wireless networks have become very popular. Thus, group communication security over unsecure open networks has become a vital concern. Group key establishment (GKE) protocols are used to satisfy the confidentiality requirement of a newly started communication session by the generation or sharing of an ephemeral common key between the group members. In this study, we analyze the computation and communication efficiency of GKE protocols. Besides confidentiality, the security characteristics of identification and integrity control are also required for all steps of the protocol implementations. Thus, the main contribution of this work is to provide the computation and communication efficiency analysis of the same GKE protocols along with the identification of the group entities and integrity control of messages during the protocol steps. The specific implementation and analysis of GKE protocols are performed by group key agreement (GKA) with pairing- based cryptography and group key distribution (GKD) with verifiable secret sharing, respectively. Finally, a comparison of GKA and GKD protocols on the basis of their strong points and cost characteristics are also provided to inform potential users.

Güvenli Çoklu Kullanıcılı Mıso Sistemlerde Eşik Değerine Dayalı Kullanıcı Seçim Performansı
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2016) Özdoğan, Özgecan; Özbek, Berna; Karabulut Kurt, Güneş
Fakat her kullanıcının kanal bilgisini baz istasyonuna iletmesi haberleşme sistemindeki yükü (overhead) arttırır. Bu yükü azaltmak amacıyla alıcı tarafında eşik değerine bağlı kullanıcı seçimi algoritması uygulanarak, bu seçimin güvenlik kapasitesi değeri üzerine etkilerini incelenmiştir.

Secure Multiuser Miso Communication Systems With Quantized Feedback
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2016) Özbek, Berna; Özdoğan, Özgecan; Karabulut Kurt, Güneş
Physical layer security is a promising approach to provide secure communications by considering the characteristics of wireless channels. In this work, we propose a secure multiple input single output (MISO) multiuser system with a quantized feedback link. We assume that eavesdropper is passive and its channel state information (CSI) is not available at transmitter. In order to disrupt reception of a passive eavesdropper, we schedule more than one legitimate user. For the sake of ensuring secure communication, the CSI of legitimate users has great impact on overall performance of secrecy sum capacity. The proposed solution applies a semi-orthogonal selection with a specific codebook to reduce the quantization errors for legitimate user side while disrupting the reception of the eavesdropper. The proposed solution improved secrecy sum capacity while reducing the feedback overhead for secure MISO multiser system.

Stable non-Gaussian noise parameter modulation in digital communication
(Institution of Engineering and Technology, 2009) Çek, Mehmet Emre; Savacı, Ferit Acar
The parameter of the stable non-Gaussian noise sequence is modulated by the binary message sequence to achieve a secure communication system. The characteristic exponent 'alpha' of a stable non-Gaussian noise sequence carries the binary information. The receiver of the proposed random communication system demodulates the received signal by estimating the parameters of the transmitted noise sequence to recover the binary message sequence.
