Article Citation - WoS: 32Citation - Scopus: 37Teleoperation With Kinematically Redundant Robot Manipulators With Sub-Task Objectives(Cambridge Univ Press, 2009) Nath, Nitendra; Tatlicioglu, Enver; Dawson, Darren M.In this paper, control of nonlinear teleoperator systems where both the master and slave systems are kinematically redundant robot manipulators is addressed. The controller is developed under the assumption that the user and environmental input forces arc unmeasurable. Lyapunov-based stability analysis is used to prove that the proposed controller yields asymptotic tracking results and ensures the coordination of the master and slave systems while satisfying a sub-task objective. Numerical simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller. Article Citation - WoS: 8Citation - Scopus: 9Polymeric Thermal Analysis of C+h and C+h+ar Ion Implanted Uhmwpe Samples(Elsevier Ltd., 2007) Kaya, N.; Öztarhan, Ahmet M.; Urkaç, Emel Sokullu; Ila, D.; Budak, S.; Oks, E.; Tıhmınlıoğlu, Funda; Muntele, C.Chemical surface characterization of C + H hybrid ion implanted UHMWPE samples were carried out using DSC (differential scanning calorimeter) and TGA (thermal gravimetric analysis) techniques. Samples were implanted with a fluence of 10(17) ion/cm(2) and an extraction voltage of 30 kV. The study of TGA and DSC curves showed that: (1) Polymeric decomposition temperature increased, (2) T-m, Delta C-p and Delta H-m values changed while Delta C-p and Delta H-m increased. T-g value could not be measured, because of some experimental limitations. However, the increase in Delta H-m values showed that T-g values increased, (3) the branch density which indicated the increase in number of cross-link (M-c) decreased in ion implanted samples and (4) increase in Delta H-m values indicated increase in crystallinity of implanted surface of UHMWPE samples.Article Citation - WoS: 37Citation - Scopus: 39Reaction of Methyl Radicals With Metal Powders Immersed in Aqueous Solutions(Wiley-VCH Verlag, 2003) Rusonik,I.; Polat,H.; Cohen,H.; Meyerstein,D.Methyl radicals radiolytically produced in aqueous solutions react efficiently with Cr0, Mn0, Fe0, Ni 0, Cu0 and Zn0 powders immersed in the solution. The Cr0, Mn0, Fe0, Ni0 and Zn0 powders reduce the radicals to form methane. On the other hand the Cu0 powder seems to oxidize the radicals. Surprisingly a part of the energy absorbed by the Cr0, Fe0, Ni 0 and Zn0 powders is transferred to the aqueous solution, thus increasing the radical yield. CH4, C2H4, C2H6, C3H6 and C3H 8 are formed when an aqueous deaerated buffer solution, pH 4-5, is added to powders of analytical iron, zinc, manganese and chromium. The source of these gases is carbon traces present, as atoms or atom clusters, in the "analytical" metal powders. These carbon atoms, when present on the surface of the metals, are reduced by the metal particles in aqueous solutions. This mechanism might be the source of light alkanes and alkenes in the prebiotic era. © Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The underlying assumption is that the travel conditions of these TD groups must be equal to the 'conventional' demand, known as 'full release'. Utilising the modelling approach for TD, suppressed demand analysis, diagnosis of difficulties and equity between conventional and disadvantaged groups were realised, while elaborating special cases for the most vulnerable TD groups (such as elderly and disabled persons) and simultaneously identifying areas of difficulty. From the early virtual results, it is concluded that, for the full release of suppressed trips (only a 5% increase), policy makers must be ready to face some financial burdens, requiring coordination of effort to both standardise these TD groups and reduce the costs incurred by operators.Article Citation - WoS: 1Sol-Derived Hydroxyapatite Ddip-Coating of a Porous Ti6al4v Powder Compact(Al-Farabi Kazakh State National University, 2009) Altındiş, Mustafa; Güden, Mustafa; Ni, ChaoyingA sintered porous Ti6Al4V powder compact with a mean pore size of 63 µm and an average porosity of 37±1% was dip-coated at soaking times varying between 1- and 5-minute using a sol-derived calcium Hydrooxyapatite (HA) powder. The coated compacts were heat-treated at 840 °C. The coating thickness was found to increase with increasing soaking time, from 1.87 µm at 1-minute soaking to 9 µm at 5-minute soaking on the average. It was shown that at increasing soaking times, the originally open pores started to close, while at low soaking times the Ti6Al4V particles were partially coated. The coating layer was shown to be nano porous and the depth of coating was observed to be relatively shallow: only few particles near the compact surface were HA-coated.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 10Water and Water Vapor Sorption Studies in Poly(propylene)-Zeolite Composites(John Wiley and Sons Inc., 2003) Pehlivan, Hilal; Özmıhçı, Filiz; Tıhmınlıoğlu, Funda; Balköse, Devrim; Ülkü, SemraWater and water vapor sorption to porous poly(propylene)zeolite composites prepared by hot pressing have been studied as a function of zeolite loading. This work presents the first report on the effect of the zeolite as a filler on the water sorption properties of PP composites. Water swelling experiments were conducted at 25°C using pure PP and PP-zeolite film samples having different zeolite loadings (6-40 wt%). Since PP is a hydrophobic polymer, it does not sorp any water, but the composites having 10, 20, 30, and 40% zeolite sorbed 0.63, 1.00, 1.72 and 3.74 wt% water, respectively. The zeolite itself at the same conditions sorbed 24.5 wt% water. As the filler loading in the composites increased, equilibrium uptake values increased too. On the other hand, water vapor sorption and kinetics has been studied using a Cahn 2000 gravimetric sorption system. Within in the range 0.35-0.95%, water vapor was adsorbed by the composites containing 10-40 wt% zeolite. Experimental effective water vapor diffusivities of the composite films were about one order of magnitude higher than the experimental water diffusion coefficient in composites. The transport of water in composites was slower than that in the liquid water due to the longer diffusion pathway and adsorption on the surface of the composites. Although the liquid water may fill all the voids in the composite, water vapor is adsorbed on the surface of the zeolite only.Article Determination of the Effects of Biomaterials on Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (pbmc)(IOS Press, 2002) Sudağıdan, Mert; Güneş, Hatice; Harsa, Şebnem
