Effect of pH and Hydration on the Normal and Lateral Interaction Forces Between Alumina Surfaces
(2006) Polat, Mehmet; Sato, Kimiyasu; Nagaoka, Takaaki; Watari, Koji
Normal and lateral interaction forces between alumina surfaces were measured using Atomic Force Microscopy-Colloid Probe Method at different pH. The normal force curves exhibit a well-defined repulsive barrier and an attractive minimum at acidic pH and the DLVO theory shows excellent agreement with the data. The normal forces are always repulsive at basic pH and the theory fails to represent the measurements. Lateral forces are almost an order of magnitude smaller in the basic solutions. These differences, which have important implications in the study of stability and rheology, are attributed to the hydration of the alumina surface at basic pH. © 2013 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.

Çelik Fiber Katkısının Farklı Boyuna Donatı Oranına Sahip Betonarme Döşemelerin Zımbalama Davranışı Üzerinde Etkileri
(2019) Saatci, Selcuk; Yasayanlar, Suleyman; Yasayanlar, Yonca; Batarlar, Baturay
Sunulan çalışmada her iki yönde birbirine dik 0,004 (D1 serisi) ve 0,002 (D2 serisi) oranında boyuna donatıiçeren 2150x2150x150 mm boyutlarında iki grup betonarme döşeme, hacimce %0, %0,5, %1 ve %1,5oranında çelik fiber katkısı içeren beton karışımlarıyla dökülmüştür. Üretilen toplam sekiz döşeme ortanoktalarından statik yük altında test edilmişlerdir. Çelik fiber katkısı olmayan numunelerde yüksek boyunadonatı oranına sahip döşeme boyuna donatısında akma gerçekleşmeden gevrek bir şekilde zımbalamagöçmesi oluşurken düşük boyuna donatı oranına sahip döşeme zımbalama gerçekleşmeden önce çok dahasünek bir davranış göstermiştir. Çelik fiber katkısı her iki boyuna donatı oranında da iki kata varan oranlardazımbalama dayanımı artışlarına sebep olmuştur. Ancak D1 serisi döşemelerde çelik fiber katkısı maksimumyer değiştirmeleri önemli ölçüde arttırırken D2 serisinde maksimum yer değiştirmelerde önemli bir farkoluşmamış, bu döşemelerin yer değiştirmesi boyuna donatının akması tarafından kontrol edilmiştir. Çelikfiber katkısı oranının arttırılması D1 serisi döşemelerde dayanımın ve maksimum yer değiştirmelerinartmasına sebep olurken, D2 serisi döşemelerde %1'in üstü çelik fiber katkı oranları davranışta önemli birfark oluşturmamıştır. Yapılan deneyler Kritik Kesme Çatlağı Teorisi kullanılarak analitik olarakmodellenmiş ve bu tip modelleme ile ilgili bazı iyileştirmeler önerilmiştir.

Search for Supersymmetry in pp Collisions at √s=7 TeV in Events With a Single Lepton, Jets, and Missing Transverse Momentum
    (Springer, 2013) Chatrchyan, S.; Khachatryan, V.; Sirunyan, A. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Aguilo, E.; Swanson, J.
Results are reported from a search for new physics processes in events containing a single isolated high-transverse-momentum lepton (electron or muon), energetic jets, and large missing transverse momentum. The analysis is based on a 4.98 fb(-1) sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, obtained with the CMS detector at the LHC. Three separate background estimation methods, each relying primarily on control samples in the data, are applied to a range of signal regions, providing complementary approaches for estimating the background yields. The observed yields are consistent with the predicted standard model backgrounds. The results are interpreted in terms of limits on the parameter space for the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model, as well as on cross sections for simplified models, which provide a generic description of the production and decay of new particles in specific, topology based final states.

Measurement of the WZ Production Cross Section in pp Collisions at S=13 TeV
    (Elsevier, 2017) Khachatryan, V.; Sirunyan, A. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Asilar, E.; Bergauer, T.; Woods, N.
The WZ production cross section in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 Tev is measured with the CMS experiment at the LHC using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.3 fb(-1). The measurement is performed in the leptonic decay modes WZ -> lVl'l', where l,l'=e,mu. The measured cross section for the range 60<m (l'l') <120 GeV is sigma(pp -> WZ) = 39.9 +/- 3.2(stat)(2.9)(-3.1)(syst)+/- 0.4(theo)+/- 1.3(lumi)pb, consistent with the standard model prediction.

Angular Analysis of the Decay B+ → K+μ+μ- in Proton-Proton Collisions at √s=8 TeV
    (Amer Physical Soc, 2018) Sirunyan, A. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Asilar, E.; Bergauer, T.; Woods, N.
The angular distribution of the flavor-changing neutral current decay B+ -> K+mu(+)mu(-) is studied in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The analysis is based on data collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.5 fb(-1). The forward-backward asymmetry A(FB) of the dimuon system and the contribution F-H from the pseudoscalar, scalar, and tensor amplitudes to the decay width are measured as a function of the dimuon mass squared. The measurements are consistent with the standard model expectations.

Search for Supersymmetry in pp Collisions at √s=13 TeV in the Single-Lepton Final State Using the Sum of Masses of Large-Radius Jets
    (Amer Physical Soc, 2017) Sirunyan, A. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Asilar, E.; Bergauer, T.; Woods, N.
Results are reported from a search for supersymmetric particles in proton-proton collisions in the final state with a single lepton, multiple jets, including at least one b-tagged jet, and large missing transverse momentum. The search uses a sample of proton-proton collision data at root s = 13 TeV recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). The observed event yields in the signal regions are consistent with those expected from standard model backgrounds. The results are interpreted in the context of simplified models of supersymmetry involving gluino pair production, with gluino decay into either on- or off-mass-shell top squarks. Assuming that the top squarks decay into a top quark plus a stable, weakly interacting neutralino, scenarios with gluino masses up to about 1.9 TeV are excluded at 95% confidence level for neutralino masses up to about 1 TeV.

Search for Supersymmetry in Pp Collisions at √s = 13 TeV in the Single-Lepton Final State Using the Sum of Masses of Large-Radius Jets
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2016) Khachatryan, V.; Sirunyan, A. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Asilar, E.; Bergauer, T.; Woods, N.
Results are reported from a search for supersymmetric particles in protonproton collisions in the final state with a single, high transverse momentum lepton; multiple jets, including at least one b-tagged jet; and large missing transverse momentum. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2: 3 fb(-1) at root s = 13TeV, recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The search focuses on processes leading to high jet multiplicities, such as gluino pair production with (g) over tilde -> t (t) over bar(chi) over tilde (0)(1) . The quantity M-J, defined as the sum of the masses of the large-radius jets in the event, is used in conjunction with other kinematic variables to provide discrimination between signal and background and as a key part of the background estimation method. The observed event yields in the signal regions in data are consistent with those expected for standard model backgrounds, estimated from control regions in data. Exclusion limits are obtained for a simplified model corresponding to gluino pair production with three-body decays into top quarks and neutralinos. Gluinos with a mass below 1600 GeV are excluded at a 95% confidence level for scenarios with low (chi) over tilde (0)(1) mass, and neutralinos with a mass below 800 GeV are excluded for a gluino mass of about 1300 GeV. For models with two-body gluino decays producing on-shell top squarks, the excluded region is only weakly sensitive to the top squark mass.

Modeling Leakage of Ephemeral Secrets in Tripartite/Group Key Exchange
(Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication, Engineers, IEICE, 2013) Manulis, Mark; Suzuki, Koutarou; Ustaoglu, Berkant
We propose a security model, referred as g-eCK model, for group key exchange that captures essentially all non-trivial leakage of static and ephemeral secret keys of participants, i.e., group key exchange version of extended Canetti-Krawczyk (eCK) model. Moreover, we propose the first one-round tripartite key exchange (3KE) protocol secure in the g-eCK model under the gap Bilinear Diffie-Hellman (gap BDH) assumption and in the random oracle model.

Teleoperation With Kinematically Redundant Robot Manipulators With Sub-Task Objectives
(Cambridge Univ Press, 2009) Nath, Nitendra; Tatlicioglu, Enver; Dawson, Darren M.
In this paper, control of nonlinear teleoperator systems where both the master and slave systems are kinematically redundant robot manipulators is addressed. The controller is developed under the assumption that the user and environmental input forces arc unmeasurable. Lyapunov-based stability analysis is used to prove that the proposed controller yields asymptotic tracking results and ensures the coordination of the master and slave systems while satisfying a sub-task objective. Numerical simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
