Radiance employs the tensor tree as a compact data structure to store the BSDF at high directional resolution. The application of such models under sunny sky conditions is, however, computationally demanding, since the density of stochastic backward samples must match the BSDF resolution. The bidirectional Photon Map is proposed to rapidly forward-sample the BSDF, starting from the known sun direction. Its exemplary application shows a potential speed-up of ≥ 98% when compared to backward ray-tracing.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 17Citation - Scopus: 23The Arrows Project: Robotic Technologies for Underwater Archaeology(IOP Publishing Ltd., 2018) Allotta, Benedetto; Costanzi, Riccardo; Ridolfi, Alessandro; Salvetti, Ovidio; Reggiannini, Marco; Kruusmaa, Maarja; Salumäe, Taavi; Lane, David Mike; Frost, Gordon; Tsiogkas, Nikolaos; Cocco, Michele; Gualdesi, Lavinio; Lacava, Giovanni; Roig, Daniel; Gündoğdu, Hilal Tolasa; Dede, Mehmet İsmet Can; Baines, Steven; Tusa, Sebastiano; Latti, Priit; Scaradozzi, DavidThe paper summarizes the main results achieved during the three-year European FP7 ARROWS project (ARchaeological RObot systems for the Worlds Seas). ARROWS concluded at the end of August 2015 and proposed to adapt and develop low-cost Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) technologies to reduce the operational cost of typical underwater archaeological campaigns. The methodology used by ARROWS researchers identified archaeologists requirements for all the phases of a campaign. These were based on guidelines issued by the project Archaeology Advisory Group (AAG), which comprised of many European archaeologists belonging to the consortium. One of the main goals of the ARROWS project was the development of a heterogeneous team of cooperating AUVs; these comprised of prototypes developed in the project and commercially available vehicles. Three different AUVs have been built and tested at sea: MARTA, characterized by flexible hardware modularity for easy adaption of payload and propulsion systems, U-CAT, a turtle inspired bio-mimetic robot devoted to shipwreck penetration and A-Size AUV, a small light weight vehicle which is easily deployable by a single person. The project also included the development of a cleaning tool for well-known artefacts and maintenance operations. Results from the official final demonstrations of the project, held in Sicily and in Estonia during Summer 2015, are presented in the paper as an experimental proof of the validity of the developed robotic tools.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 5Citation - Scopus: 6Quantum Calculus of Classical Vortex Images, Integrable Models and Quantum States(IOP Publishing Ltd., 2016) Pashaev, OktayFrom two circle theorem described in terms of q-periodic functions, in the limit q→1 we have derived the strip theorem and the stream function for N vortex problem. For regular N-vortex polygon we find compact expression for the velocity of uniform rotation and show that it represents a nonlinear oscillator. We describe q-dispersive extensions of the linear and nonlinear Schrodinger equations, as well as the q-semiclassical expansions in terms of Bernoulli and Euler polynomials. Different kind of q-analytic functions are introduced, including the pq-analytic and the golden analytic functions.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 1From Q-Analytic Functions To Double Q-Analytic Hermite Binomials and Q-Traveling Waves(IOP Publishing Ltd., 2016) Nalcı Tümer, Şengül; Pashaev, OktayWe extend the concept of q-analytic function in two different directions. First we find expansion of q-binomial in terms of q-Hermite polynomials, analytic in two complex arguments. Based on this representation, we introduce a new class of complex functions of two complex arguments, which we call the double q-analytic functions. As another direction, by the hyperbolic version of q-analytic functions we describe the q-analogue of traveling waves, which is not preserving the shape during evolution. The IVP for corresponding q-wave equation we solved in the q-D'Alembert form.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Exact Quantization of Cauchy-Euler Type Forced Parametric Oscillator(IOP Publishing Ltd., 2016) Atılgan Büyükaşık, Şirin; Çayiç, ZehraDriven and damped parametric quantum oscillator is solved by Wei-Norman Lie algebraic approach, which gives the exact form of the evolution operator. This allows us to obtain explicitly the probability densities, time-evolution of initially Glauber coherent states, expectation values and uncertainty relations. Then, as an exactly solvable model, we introduce the driven Cauchy-Euler type quantum parametric oscillator, which appears as self-adjoint quantization of the classical Cauchy-Euler differential equation. We discuss some typical behavior of this oscillator under the influence of external terms and give a concrete example.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 8Citation - Scopus: 11Two-Circles Theorem, Q-Periodic Functions and Entangled Qubit States(IOP Publishing Ltd., 2014) Pashaev, OktayFor arbitrary hydrodynamic flow in circular annulus we introduce the two circle theorem, allowing us to construct the flow from a given one in infinite plane. Our construction is based on q-periodic analytic functions for complex potential, leading to fixed scale-invariant complex velocity, where q is determined by geometry of the region. Self-similar fractal structure of the flow with q-periodic modulation as solution of q-difference equation is studied. For one point vortex problem in circular annulus by fixing singular points we find solution in terms of q-elementary functions. Considering image points in complex plane as a phase space for qubit coherent states we construct Fibonacci and Lucas type entangled N-qubit states. Complex Fibonacci curve related to this construction shows reach set of geometric patterns.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1Resonant Dispersive Benney and Broer-Kaup Systems in 2+1 Dimensions(IOP Publishing Ltd., 2014) Lee, Jyh Hao; Pashaev, OktayWe represent the Benney system of dispersionless hydrodynamic equations as NLS type infinite system of equations with quantum potential. We show that negative dispersive deformation of this system is an integrable system including vector generalization of Resonant NLS and 2+1 dimensional nonlocal Resonant NLS. We obtain bilinear form and soliton solutions in these systems and find the resonant character of soliton interaction. Equivalent vector Broer-Kaup system and non-local 2+1 dimensional nonlocal Broer-Kaup equation are constructed.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 3Filamentary Structures of the Cosmic Web and the Nonlinear Schrödinger Type Equation(IOP Publishing Ltd., 2011) Tığrak, Esra; Van De Weygaert, R.; Jones, B. J. T.We show that the filamentary type structures of the cosmic web can be modeled as solitonic waves by solving the reaction diffusion system which is the hydrodynamical analogous of the nonlinear Schrödinger type equation. We find the analytical solution of this system by applying the Hirota direct method which produces the dissipative soliton solutions to formulate the dynamical evolution of the nonlinear structure formation.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 6Citation - Scopus: 6Vortex Images, Q-Calculus and Entangled Coherent States(IOP Publishing Ltd., 2012) Pashaev, OktayThe two circles theorem for hydrodynamic flow in annular domain bounded by two concentric circles is derived. Complex potential and velocity of the flow are represented as q-periodic functions and rewritten in terms of the Jackson q-integral. This theorem generalizes the Milne-Thomson one circle theorem and reduces to the last on in the limit q → ∞. By this theorem problem of vortex images in annular domain between coaxial cylinders is solved in terms of q-elementary functions. An infinite set of images, as symmetric points under two circles, is determined completely by poles of the q-logarithmic function, where dimensionless parameter q = r 2 2/r 1 2 is given by square ratio of the cylinder radii. Motivated by Möbius transformation for symmetrical points under generalized circle in complex plain, the system of symmetric spin coherent states corresponding to antipodal qubit states is introduced. By these states we construct the maximally entangled orthonormal two qubit spin coherent state basis, in the limiting case reducible to the Bell basis. Average energy of XYZ model in these states, describing finite localized structure with characteristic extremum points, appears as an energy surface in maximally entangled two qubit space. Generalizations to three and higher multiple qubits are found. We show that our entangled N qubit states are determined by set of complex Fibonacci and Lucas polynomials and corresponding Binet-Fibonacci q-calculus.Conference Object Damped Parametric Oscillator and Exactly Solvable Complex Burgers Equations(IOP Publishing Ltd., 2012) Atılgan Büyükaşık, Şirin; Pashaev, OktayWe obtain exact solutions of a parametric Madelung fluid model with dissipation which is linearazible in the form of Schrödinger equation with time variable coefficients. The corresponding complex Burgers equation is solved by a generalized Cole-Hopf transformation and the dynamics of the pole singularities is described explicitly. In particular, we give exact solutions for variable parametric Madelung fluid and complex Burgers equations related with the Sturm-Liouville problems for the classical Hermite, Laguerre and Legendre type orthogonal polynomials.
