An interactive database (Hizmo) for reconstructing lost modernist izmir
(Education and research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe, 2003) Akgun,Y.
. The research project in progress in the School of Architecture at the Izmir Institute of Technology includes documentation and reconstruction (by 3D modeling in electronic media) of damaged and lost early modern buildings in the Izmir region. The research aims to analyze the differences between Izmir modern buildings and Universal Modern Style, and preserve information on architectural heritage for future generations. The project is at the phase of developing an interactive web-based historical database (HizmO) that includes data (information, images, technical drawings, VRML models) and visualization of the findings. This database aims to be a pioneer in Mediterranean Region for exhibition of relations between traditional architecture (especially Mediterranean locality) and modernism, and organization of a network and off-campus learning activity for Mediterranean architecture that serve as a guide for students, researchers and architects. This paper aims at introducing this research and discussing the application of the database “HizmO,” its aims and potential effects on education in architectural history. © 2003, Education and research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe. On-Line Educational Tool for the Parallel Operation of the Synchronous Generators
(John Wiley and Sons Inc., 2011) Bekiroğlu, Erdal; Bayrak, Alper
This study presents a PC and a PIC microcontroller based an on-line educational tool for the monitoring and controlling of the parallel operation of the synchronous generators. The presented tool measures the voltages, the frequencies, the phase sequences, and the synchronism time data of the generators through microcontroller. The measured data, the voltage graphics, and the status of the parallel operation conditions are monitored on the computer instantaneously. The parallel operation of the generators is controlled with the developed tool automatically. The educational tool is user-friendly, real-time, reliable, and precise. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

A Review of Cloud Deployment Models for E-Learning Systems
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2013) Leloğlu, Engin; Ayav, Tolga; Aslan, Burak Galip
With the significant growth in the cloud-based systems, many industries give their attention to cloud computing solutions. E-learning is a promising application area since its typical requirements such as dynamically allocation of computation and storage resources, coincide well with cloud characteristics. This paper presents some possible cloud solutions in e-learning environments by emphasizing its pros and cons. It is of paramount importance to choose the most suitable cloud model for an e-learning application or an educational organization in terms of scalability, portability and security. We distinguish various deployment alternatives of cloud computing and discuss their benefits against typical e-learning requirements.

Computational Sciences Learning Project for Pre-University Students
(Springer Verlag, 2007) İnceoğlu, Mustafa Murat; Aslan, Burak Galip
It is quite useful for high school students to study on computational sciences, especially for those who are planning to have a higher education in engineering. This paper proposes a pilot study on 9th and 10 th grade students for teaching them the basic aspects of computer sciences. This study focuses on a schedule consisting two consecutive courses - first one theoric and the second one is applied - for student volunteers from science high schools.
