Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Controlling the Rotor Angle Stability of Single Machine Infinite Bus System in the Presence of Wiener and Alpha-Stable Levy Type Power Fluctuations(World Scientific Publishing, 2020) Yılmaz, Serpil; Savacı, Ferit AcarThe integration of renewable energy sources into the power systems and the growth of electricity consumption leads to a considerable increase in the power fluctuations. In the first part of this study, the control of the rotor angle stability of single machine infinite bus system in the presence of Wiener type power fluctuations has been achieved by minimizing the corresponding stochastic sensitivity function. In the second part, the power fluctuations have been modeled by alpha-stable Levy processes and since stochastic sensitivity function is not available for alpha-stable Levy processes, then the control of the rotor angle stability has been numerically achieved by minimizing the corresponding rotor angle dispersion for the first time in the literature. © World Scientific Publishing CompanyArticle Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Fully Three-Dimensional Analysis of a Photonic Crystal Assisted Silicon on Insulator Waveguide Bend(World Scientific Publishing, 2018) Eti, Neslihan; Çetin, Zebih; Sözüer, Hüseyin SamiA detailed numerical study of low-loss silicon on insulator (SOI) waveguide bend is presented using the fully three-dimensional (3D) finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The geometrical parameters are optimized to minimize the bending loss over a range of frequencies. Transmission results for the conventional single bend and photonic crystal assisted SOI waveguide bend are compared. Calculations are performed for the transmission values of TE-like modes where the electric field is strongly transverse to the direction of propagation. The best obtained transmission is over 95% for TE-like modes.Article Citation - WoS: 14Citation - Scopus: 18Technology Adoption in Emerging Regions: Case of the Smartphone in Saudi Arabia(World Scientific Publishing, 2020) Aldhaban, Fahad; Harmon, Robert; Daim, Tuğrul Ünsal; Başoğlu, NuriThis paper examines the adoption of Smartphones in Saudi Arabia. A theoretical research model is developed based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology. A web-based survey has been used to gather data from randomly selected Smartphone users in Saudi Arabia. For data analysis, SEM approach was followed, SPSS and AMOS were utilized for analyzing data. The results indicate that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, brand influence, perceived enjoyment, and design constructs have a positive and significant relationship with users' behavioral intention to adopt and use Smartphones in Saudi Arabia. © 2020 World Scientific Publishing Company.
