Two-Particle Azimuthal Correlations in Γp Interactions Using Ppb Collisions at √snn=8.16 Tev
    (ELSEVIER, 2023) Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Bergauer, T.; Dragicevic, M.; Del Valle, A. Escalante; Fruehwirth, R.; Jeitler, M.
The first measurements of the Fourier coefficients (V-n Delta) of the azimuthal distributions of charged hadrons emitted from photon-proton (gamma p) interactions are presented. The data are extracted from 68.8nb(-1) of ultra-peripheral proton-lead (pPb) collisions at root s(NN)= 8.16 TeV using the CMS detector. The high energy lead ions produce a flux of photons that can interact with the oncoming proton. This gamma p system provides a set of unique initial conditions with multiplicity lower than in photon-lead collisions but comparable to recent electron-positron and electron-proton data. The V-n Delta coefficients are presented in ranges of event multiplicity and transverse momentum (p(T)) and are compared to corresponding hadronic minimum bias pPb results. For a given multiplicity range, the mean p(T) of charged particles is smaller in gamma p than in pPb collisions. For both the gamma p and pPb samples, V-1 Delta is negative, V-2 Delta is positive, and V-3 Delta consistent with 0. For each multiplicity and p(T) range, V-2 Delta is larger for gamma p events. The gamma p data are consistent with model predictions that have no collective effects. (c) 2023 The Author(s). Published by Elsevier B.V. Measurement of the Azimuthal Anisotropy of [Formula Presented] and [Formula Presented] Mesons in PbPb Collisions at S NN =5.02 TeV
    (Elsevier B.V., 2021) Sirunyan, A.M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Bergauer, T.; Dragicevic, M.; De Jesus Damiao, D.
The second-order Fourier coefficients (v<inf>2</inf>) characterizing the azimuthal distributions of [Formula presented] and [Formula presented] mesons produced in PbPb collisions at s<inf> <inf>NN</inf> </inf>=5.02TeV are studied. The [Formula presented] mesons are reconstructed in their dimuon decay channel, as measured by the CMS detector. The collected data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.7nb−1. The scalar product method is used to extract the v<inf>2</inf> coefficients of the azimuthal distributions. Results are reported for the rapidity range |y|<2.4, in the transverse momentum interval 0<p<inf>T</inf><50GeV/c, and in three centrality ranges of 10–30%, 30–50% and 50–90%. In contrast to the J/ψ mesons, the measured v<inf>2</inf> values for the [Formula presented] mesons are found to be consistent with zero. © 2021 The Author(s)

Long-Range Two-Particle Correlations of Strange Hadrons With Charged Particles in Ppb and Pbpb Collisions at Lhc Energies
    (Elsevier B.V., 2015) Khachatryan, V.; Sirunyan, A.M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Bergauer, T.; Dragicevic, M.; Masetti, L.
Measurements of two-particle angular correlations between an identified strange hadron (KS 0 or Λ/Λ‾) and a charged particle, emitted in pPb collisions, are presented over a wide range in pseudorapidity and full azimuth. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 35 nb−1, were collected at a nucleon–nucleon center-of-mass energy (sNN) of 5.02 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. The results are compared to semi-peripheral PbPb collision data at sNN=2.76 TeV, covering similar charged-particle multiplicities in the events. The observed azimuthal correlations at large relative pseudorapidity are used to extract the second-order (v2) and third-order (v3) anisotropy harmonics of KS 0 and Λ/Λ‾ particles. These quantities are studied as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity in the event and the transverse momentum of the particles. For high-multiplicity pPb events, a clear particle species dependence of v2 and v3 is observed. For pT<2 GeV, the v2 and v3 values of KS 0 particles are larger than those of Λ/Λ‾ particles at the same pT. This splitting effect between two particle species is found to be stronger in pPb than in PbPb collisions in the same multiplicity range. When divided by the number of constituent quarks and compared at the same transverse kinetic energy per quark, both v2 and v3 for KS 0 particles are observed to be consistent with those for Λ/Λ‾ particles at the 10% level in pPb collisions. This consistency extends over a wide range of particle transverse kinetic energy and event multiplicities. © 2015 The Authors
