A Turkish Dataset for Gender Identification of Twitter Users
(Assoc Computational Linguistics-ACL, 2019) Sezerer, Erhan; Polatbilek, Ozan; Tekir, Selma
Author profiling is the identification of an author's gender, age, and language from his/her texts. With the increasing trend of using Twitter as a means to express thought, profiling the gender of an author from his/her tweets has become a challenge. Although several datasets in different languages have been released on this problem, there is still a need for multilingualism. In this work, we propose a dataset of tweets of Turkish Twitter users which are labeled with their gender information. The dataset has 3368 users in the training set and 1924 users in the test set where each user has 100 tweets. The dataset is publicly available(1).

The Relation of Geogenic and Antrophogenic Factors with Blood and Hair Lead and Arsenic Levels in Women Living in Can and Bayramic Districts of Canakkale Province
(Nobel Ilac, 2019) Baba, Alper; Gunduz, Orhan; Bakar, Coskun; Sulun, Serdar; Save, Dilsad
Objective: Mining areas and associated industrial activities carry considerable risks for human health due to multi-pathway exposure of heavy metals such as arsenic and lead. The objective of this study was to compare arsenic and lead levels it human blood and hair samples in all industrial mining area in northwestern Turkey with that of non-exposed group demonstrating similar sociocultural characteristics. Material and Method: The population of the study consisted of 674 nonsmoker women over the age of 40 who were selected on random basis from mine region and control area. Venous blood samples were taken and analyzed fur blood lead and arsenic levels in all participants. Hair samples were later collected from 108 women with high levels in blood samples. Results: The results showed that the highest prevalence of occurrences was found in district centers whereas relatively lower values were observed in the villages. Hail arsenic and lead levels were comparably higher in the industrialized area (can Region) where low-quality coal combustion used in power generation and residential heating were dominant. Conclusion: Although high correlations were not found, blood and hair arsenic and lead levels in individuals living in industrial in agricultural areas were found to he high at levels influencing the human health On the other hand, these results should be further supported and verified with advanced and long duration monitoring activities.

Automatic HTML Code Generation from Mock-Up Images Using Machine Learning Techniques
(IEEE, 2019) Asiroglu, Batuhan; Mate, Busra Rumeysa; Yildiz, Eyyup; Nalcakan, Yagiz; Sezen, Alper; Dagtekin, Mustafa; Ensari, Tolga
The design cycle for a web site starts with creating mock-ups for individual web pages either by hand or using graphic design and specialized mock-up creation tools. The mock-up is then converted into structured HTML or similar markup code by software engineers. This process is usually repeated many more times until the desired template is created. In this study, our aim is to automate the code generation process from hand-drawn mock-ups. Hand drawn mock-ups are processed using computer vision techniques and subsequently some deep learning methods are used to implement the proposed system. Our system achieves 96% method accuracy and 73% validation accuracy.

Protective and Therapeutic Effects of Milrinone on Acoustic Trauma in Rat Cochlea
(Springer, 2019) Ceylan, Seyit Mehmet; Uysal, Erdal; Altinay, Serdar; Sezgin, Efe; Bilal, Nagihan; Petekkaya, Emine; Gulbagci, Mustafa Emre
ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to investigate the potential protective and therapeutic effects of milrinone, a specific phosphodiesterase (PDE) III inhibitor, on acoustic trauma-induced cochlear injury and apoptosis.MethodsA total number of 30 healthy Wistar albino rats were evenly divided into five groups as follows: group 1 was assigned as control group; group 2 and 3 were assigned as low-dosage groups (0.25mg/kg) in which milrinone was administered 1h before acoustic trauma (AT) and 2h after AT, respectively; group 4 and 5 were assigned as high-dosage groups (0.50mg/kg) in which the drug was administered 1h before AT and 2h after AT, respectively. Except control group, all treatment groups received a single dosage of milrinone for 5days. Distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) measurements were recorded before AT as well as at second and fifth post-traumatic days. At the end of fifth day, all rats were sacrificed and the cochlea of the rats was removed for histopathological evaluation. In addition, the groups were compared in terms of apoptotic index via caspase-3 staining.ResultsIn terms of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), there was no statistically significant difference among the groups following AT (p>0.05). After 5days of milrinone treatment, the best SNR values were found in group 5, though all groups did not statistically differ (p>0.05). In histopathological evaluation, vacuolization, inflammation, and edema scores in all treatment groups were statistically lower than those of the control group (p<0.05). In group 2 and 4 where the drug was administered before AT, the inflammation and apoptosis index was lower than those of group 3 and 5 where the drug was administered after AT (p<0.0001).ConclusionWe reveal that milrinone has a protective effect on cochlear damage in the experimental acoustic model of rats. This protective effect was more apparent following the pre-traumatic milrinone administration, and is associated with its effect on decreasing inflammation and apoptosis. Based on DPOAE measurements following AT, especially in the group 5 (high-dosage group), milrinone may also have a therapeutic effect.

Effect of pH and Hydration on the Normal and Lateral Interaction Forces Between Alumina Surfaces
(2006) Polat, Mehmet; Sato, Kimiyasu; Nagaoka, Takaaki; Watari, Koji
Normal and lateral interaction forces between alumina surfaces were measured using Atomic Force Microscopy-Colloid Probe Method at different pH. The normal force curves exhibit a well-defined repulsive barrier and an attractive minimum at acidic pH and the DLVO theory shows excellent agreement with the data. The normal forces are always repulsive at basic pH and the theory fails to represent the measurements. Lateral forces are almost an order of magnitude smaller in the basic solutions. These differences, which have important implications in the study of stability and rheology, are attributed to the hydration of the alumina surface at basic pH. © 2013 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.

    Ephesos in a Capitalist World
(Green Lines inst Sustainable development, 2010) Akture, Z.
In this paper, the use of the registered site of Ephesos for archaeological excavations and restorations that enliven tourism activities is analyzed as a response to mechanisms of the competitive market in our capitalist world, by putting the site to its socially most valued use and harvesting its productive capacity. The question remains whether the transformation of Ephesos into Turkey's most important tourism capital as such legitimizes its preservation as archaeological heritage, in the sense of public approval at large. The discussion is carried along the axis of property rights to decide whether or not a legitimacy crisis is being experienced in the Ephesos case. This is done by adopting Habermas' definition of crisis in accord with the idea of sustainability, as 'the phase of an illness in which it is decided whether or not the organism's self-healing powers are sufficient for recovery', to scrutinize the sustainability of preserving our archaeological heritage through tourism activities.

Problem of Cracked Infinite Hollow Cylinder With Two Rigid Inclusions
(Civil Comp Press, 2000) Artem, HSA; Gecit, MR
This paper is concerned with the fracture of an axisymmetric hollow cylindrical bar containing rigid inclusions. The cylinder is under the action of uniformly distributed axial tension applied at infinity. The hollow cylinder contains a ring-shaped crack at the symmetry plane whose surfaces are free of tractions and two ring-shaped rigid inclusions with negligible thickness symmetrically located on both sides of the crack. Geometry and the loading is symmetric about z-axis. Along the rigid inclusions displacements are constant and continuous whereas stresses have jumps. The inner and the outer surfaces of the cylinder are free of tractions It is assumed that the material of the cylinder is linearly elastic and isotropic. The mixed boundary conditions of the problem lead the analysis to a system of three singular integral equations for crack surface displacement derivative and normal and shear stress jumps on rigid inclusions. These integral equations are solved numerically and the stress intensity factors at the edges of the crack and at the edges of the inclusions are calculated. Results are presented in graphical form.

Çelik Fiber Katkısının Farklı Boyuna Donatı Oranına Sahip Betonarme Döşemelerin Zımbalama Davranışı Üzerinde Etkileri
(2019) Saatci, Selcuk; Yasayanlar, Suleyman; Yasayanlar, Yonca; Batarlar, Baturay
Sunulan çalışmada her iki yönde birbirine dik 0,004 (D1 serisi) ve 0,002 (D2 serisi) oranında boyuna donatıiçeren 2150x2150x150 mm boyutlarında iki grup betonarme döşeme, hacimce %0, %0,5, %1 ve %1,5oranında çelik fiber katkısı içeren beton karışımlarıyla dökülmüştür. Üretilen toplam sekiz döşeme ortanoktalarından statik yük altında test edilmişlerdir. Çelik fiber katkısı olmayan numunelerde yüksek boyunadonatı oranına sahip döşeme boyuna donatısında akma gerçekleşmeden gevrek bir şekilde zımbalamagöçmesi oluşurken düşük boyuna donatı oranına sahip döşeme zımbalama gerçekleşmeden önce çok dahasünek bir davranış göstermiştir. Çelik fiber katkısı her iki boyuna donatı oranında da iki kata varan oranlardazımbalama dayanımı artışlarına sebep olmuştur. Ancak D1 serisi döşemelerde çelik fiber katkısı maksimumyer değiştirmeleri önemli ölçüde arttırırken D2 serisinde maksimum yer değiştirmelerde önemli bir farkoluşmamış, bu döşemelerin yer değiştirmesi boyuna donatının akması tarafından kontrol edilmiştir. Çelikfiber katkısı oranının arttırılması D1 serisi döşemelerde dayanımın ve maksimum yer değiştirmelerinartmasına sebep olurken, D2 serisi döşemelerde %1'in üstü çelik fiber katkı oranları davranışta önemli birfark oluşturmamıştır. Yapılan deneyler Kritik Kesme Çatlağı Teorisi kullanılarak analitik olarakmodellenmiş ve bu tip modelleme ile ilgili bazı iyileştirmeler önerilmiştir.
