Observation of Same-Sign Ww Production From Double Parton Scattering in Proton-Proton Collisions at P S=13 Tev
(Amer Physical Soc, 2023) Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Andrejkovic, J. W.; Bergauer, T.; Chatterjee, S.; Dragicevic, M.; Del Valle, Escalante; 01. Izmir Institute of Technology
The first observation of the production of (WW +/-)-W-+/- bosons from double parton scattering processes using same-sign electron-muon and dimuon events in proton-proton collisions is reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb(-1 )recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV using the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. Multivariate discriminants are used to distinguish the signal process from the main backgrounds. A binned maximum likelihood fit is performed to extract the signal cross section. The measured cross section for production of same-sign W bosons decaying leptonically is 80.7 +/- 11.2(stat)( -8.6)(+9.5)(syst) +/- 12.1(model) fb, whereas the measured fiducial cross section is 6.28 +/- 0.81(stat) +/- 0.69(syst) +/- 0.37(model) fb. The observed significance of the signal is 6.2 standard deviations above the background-only hypothesis.

First Search for Exclusive Diphoton Production at High Mass With Tagged Protons in Proton-Proton Collisions at Root S=13 Tev
(Amer Physical Soc, 2022) Tumasyan, A.; Karapınar, Güler; Karapınar, Güler; 01. Izmir Institute of Technology
A search for exclusive two-photon production via photon exchange in proton-proton collisions, pp -> p gamma gamma p with intact protons, is presented. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 9.4 fb(-1) collected in 2016 using the CMS and TOTEM detectors at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeVat the LHC. Events are selected with a diphoton invariant mass above 350 GeVand with both protons intact in the final state, to reduce backgrounds from strong interactions. The events of interest are those where the invariant mass and rapidity calculated from the momentum losses of the forward-moving protons match the mass and rapidity of the central, two-photon system. No events are found that satisfy this condition. Interpreting this result in an effective dimension-8 extension of the standard model, the first limits are set on the two anomalous four-photon coupling parameters. If the other parameter is constrained to its standard model value, the limits at 95% confidence level are vertical bar zeta(1)vertical bar < 2.9 x 10(-1)3 GeV-4 and vertical bar zeta(2)vertical bar < 6.0 x 10(-13) GeV-4.

Measurement of Differential Cross Sections for Z Boson Production in Association With Jets in Proton-Proton Collisions at √s=13tev
(Springer Nature, 2018) Sirunyan, A.M.; Karapınar, Güler; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Asilar, E.; Bergauer, T.; Fouz, M.C.; 01. Izmir Institute of Technology
The production of a Z boson, decaying to two charged leptons, in association with jets in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV is measured. Data recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC are used that correspond to an integrated luminosity of 2.19fb-1. The cross section is measured as a function of the jet multiplicity and its dependence on the transverse momentum of the Z boson, the jet kinematic variables (transverse momentum and rapidity), the scalar sum of the jet momenta, which quantifies the hadronic activity, and the balance in transverse momentum between the reconstructed jet recoil and the Z boson. The measurements are compared with predictions from four different calculations. The first two merge matrix elements with different parton multiplicities in the final state and parton showering, one of which includes one-loop corrections. The third is a fixed-order calculation with next-to-next-to-leading order accuracy for the process with a Z boson and one parton in the final state. The fourth combines the fully differential next-to-next-to-leading order calculation of the process with no parton in the final state with next-to-next-to-leading logarithm resummation and parton showering. © 2018, CERN for the benefit of the CMS collaboration.

Measurement of Spin Correlations in Tt‾ Production Using the Matrix Element Method in the Muon+jets Final State in Pp Collisions at √s=8 Tev
    (Elsevier B.V., 2016) Khachatryan, V.; Karapınar, Güler; Sirunyan, A.M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Asilar, E.; Bergauer, T.; Cuevas, J.; 01. Izmir Institute of Technology
The consistency of the spin correlation strength in top quark pair production with the standard model (SM) prediction is tested in the muon+jets final state. The events are selected from pp collisions, collected by the CMS detector, at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb−1. The data are compared with the expectation for the spin correlation predicted by the SM and with the expectation of no correlation. Using a template fit method, the fraction of events that show SM spin correlations is measured to be 0.72±0.08(stat)−0.13 +0.15(syst), representing the most precise measurement of this quantity in the muon+jets final state to date. © 2016 The Author

A Search for Pair Production of New Light Bosons Decaying Into Muons
    (Elsevier B.V., 2016) Khachatryan, V.; Karapınar, Güler; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Asilar, E.; Bergauer, T.; Soares, M.S.; 01. Izmir Institute of Technology
A search for the pair production of new light bosons, each decaying into a pair of muons, is performed with the CMS experiment at the LHC, using a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.7 fb−1 collected in proton–proton collisions at center-of-mass energy of s=8 TeV. No excess is observed in the data relative to standard model background expectation and a model independent upper limit on the product of the cross section, branching fraction, and acceptance is derived. The results are compared with two benchmark models, the first one in the context of the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model, and the second one in scenarios containing a hidden sector, including those predicting a nonnegligible light boson lifetime. © 2015 CERN for the benefit of the CMS Collaboration

Search for a Heavy Gauge Boson W′ in the Final State With an Electron and Large Missing Transverse Energy in Pp Collisions at S=7 Tev
(Elsevier B.V., 2011) Khachatryan, V.; Demir, Durmuş Ali; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Bergauer, T.; Dragicevic, M.; Lustermann, W.; 04.05. Department of Pyhsics; 04. Faculty of Science; 01. Izmir Institute of Technology
A search for a heavy gauge boson W′ has been conducted by the CMS experiment at the LHC in the decay channel with an electron and large transverse energy imbalance ET miss, using proton–proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb−1. No excess above standard model expectations is seen in the transverse mass distribution of the electron-ET miss system. Assuming standard-model-like couplings and decay branching fractions, a W′ boson with a mass less than 1.36 TeV/c2 is excluded at 95% confidence level. © 2011 CERN
