Conference Object Analysis, Design, Test, and Devops in Microservice-Based Software Architectures: Results From Pakistan(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2024) Unlu, Huseyin; Soylu, Gorkem Kilinc; Ahmad, Isra Shafique; Demirors, OnurIn today's software industry, Microservice-based Software Architecture (MSSA) has been a common practice and has been adopted by many companies. MSSA differs from traditional object-oriented architecture in several ways. The architecture moved away from being data-driven and evolved into a behavior-oriented structure. The usage of a single database is replaced by the structures in which each microservice is developed independently and has its own database. Therefore, adaptation demands software organizations to transform their culture. However, there is no de facto method for analyzing, designing, and testing systems for these architectures, similar to object-oriented analysis and design practices. This study aimed to understand how Pakistani software organizations undertake analysis, design, test, and DevOps processes in software projects adopting the MSSA paradigm. To achieve this goal, we surveyed 49 participants from various agile organizations in Pakistan, encompassing different roles and domains. The results reveal that Pakistani software organizations continue using familiar object-oriented analysis and design approaches. MSSA, specifically in the form of reactive systems, has substantial differences from the more conventional design paradigms, such as object-oriented analysis and design. Therefore, adaptation demands software organizations to transform their culture. However, there is a lack of research studies that explore common practices utilized by software companies that implement MSSAs.Objective: In this study, our goal is to get an insight into how practices such as an agile methodology, software analysis, design, test, size measurement, and effort estimation are performed in software projects which embrace the Microservice-based software architecture paradigm. Together with the identification of practices utilized for the MSSA paradigm, we aim to determine the challenges organizations face to adopt microservice-based software architectures.Method: We performed a structured interview with participants coming from 20 different organizations over different roles, domains, and countries to collect information on their views, experience, and the challenges faced.Results: Our results reveal that organizations find agile development compatible with microservices. In general, they continue to use traditional object-oriented modeling notations for analysis and design in an abstract way. They continue to use the same subjective size measurement and effort estimation approaches that they were using previously in traditional architectures. However, they face unique challenges in developing microservices.Conclusion: Although organizations face challenges, practitioners continue to use familiar techniques that they have been using for traditional architectures. A multistep chemical pathway was used to synthesize the derivatives. The cytotoxic effect of trisubstituted isoindole derivatives were evaluated by determining cellular viability using the MTT assay against A549, PC-3, HeLa, Caco-2, and MCF-7 cell lines. The C-2 selective ring-opening products were obtained from the ring-opening reaction of 5-alkyl/aryl-2-hydroxyhexahydro-4H-oxireno[2,3-e]isoindole-4,6(5H)-diones with nucleophiles such as chloride (Cl-) and bromide (Br-) ions. In addition, the ring-opening products halodiols were converted to their related acetates. The anticancer activity of synthesized isoindole-1,3-dione derivatives was investigated against HeLa, A549, MCF-7, PC3, and Caco-2 cells in vitro and resulted in varies cytotoxic effect depend on the group attached to the isoindole molecule. Furthermore, the evaluation of the antimicrobial action of trisubstituted isoindole derivatives against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) bacteria was assessed and found out selective inhibition of the both bacterial growth via different trisubstituted isoindole derivatives. The results of this work encourage further research on the potential utilization of trisubstituted isoindole derivatives as cytotoxic and antimicrobial agents.Article Citation - WoS: 7Investigation of Educational Buildings in Terms of Daylighting Performance(Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi, 2011) Erlalelitepe, Ilknur; Aral, Duygu; Kazanasmaz, TugceEducational buildings have the priority among other building types in daylight performance studies. There are several reasons for this. Classrooms which are used during the whole day should have sufficient and homogeneously distributed daylight. In insufficient daylight conditions, the use of electrical lighting increases energy consumption. Users' visual comfort should also be assured, and design incorporating natural light requires the analysis of sun protection devices in order to avoid glare and excessive heat. Also, atriums and skylights can be included in the building design with the aim of distributing light equally and in a relatively balanced manner throughout the building. However, lighting schemes are often proposed by architects and professionals who tend to make use of different design tools, and it would be pertinent to investigate whether these tools perform as desired. This study analyses daylight design principles and design elements in educational buildings. It outlines the method which has been used to analyse the daylight performance of buildings. A university building was selected for the field study. Measurements were taken in sample spaces to determine daylight performance. Utilising comparison between standard values and measured values, findings are presented in the form of tables, drawings and figures.Article Efficient Design of Nursing Unit Floors(Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi, 2009) Kazanasmaz, Z. Tugce; Duzgunes, ArdaHospital designs aim to obtain the lowest possible construction, maintenance and operational costs together with patient satisfaction, comfort and privacy. To satisfy these needs, the efficient design of nursing unit areas becomes considerably important. This study was thus conducted to analyze planimetric design efficiency of nursing unit floors by defining certain floor areas and floor area ratios. To test existing nursing unit floors, quantitative assessments were noted in regard to their planimetric efficiency: the utility value of the built floor area, both in terms of its allocation to patient space (served), support (serving) and circulation space and the relative proportions of these. Results were presented in a comparative table. Of the 15 hospital floor plans analyzed, five satisfied minimum space requirements for patient areas, while another five were in the optimum range for circulation areas. Two were defined as the least efficient, having the lowest patient-to-circulation area ratio.
