Quantum Calculus of Fibonacci Divisors and Infinite Hierarchy of Bosonic-Fermionic Golden Quantum Oscillators
(World Scientific Publishing, 2021) Pashaev, Oktay
Starting from divisibility problem for Fibonacci numbers, we introduce Fibonacci divisors, related hierarchy of Golden derivatives in powers of the Golden Ratio and develop corresponding quantum calculus. By this calculus, the infinite hierarchy of Golden quantum oscillators with integer spectrum determined by Fibonacci divisors, the hierarchy of Golden coherent states and related Fock-Bargman representations in space of complex analytic functions are derived. It is shown that Fibonacci divisors with even and odd kappa describe Golden deformed bosonic and fermionic quantum oscillators, correspondingly. By the set of translation operators we find the hierarchy of Golden binomials and related Golden analytic functions, conjugate to Fibonacci number F-kappa. In the limit. kappa -> 0, Golden analytic functions reduce to classical holomorphic functions and quantum calculus of Fibonacci divisors to the usual one. Several applications of the calculus to quantum deformation of bosonic and fermionic oscillator algebras, R-matrices, geometry of hydrodynamic images and quantum computations are discussed.

Measuring the Green Infrastructure Resilience in Turkey
(World Scientific Publishing, 2021) Karabakan, Berfin; Mert, Yelda
Cities today face significant difficulties and even risks due to the negative effects of climate change, uncontrolled urbanization, and rapid population growth. Many urban scenarios are being developed to mitigate potential risks and threats. One branch of these scenarios is built upon the concept of sustainability, for which the notion of “resilience” is of utmost importance. It is this notion of resilience that was examined in this study, based on the case of socio-ecological system features of Edremit, Van, Turkey. These features were evaluated in terms of changes that will potentially take place, and the analysis for this was performed using the Green Infrastructure Spatial Planning (GISP) method. In this approach, green infrastructure benefit criteria are mapped in the Geographic Information System (GIS) environment and various conclusions are drawn from the evaluation of these maps. The results of the study show that the green infrastructure systems of Edremit play an important role in providing a certain degree of resilience. It was, therefore, revealed as part of this study that measuring and evaluating the resilience properties of different cities is important. Also, urban policies and spatial strategies should be defined considering local characteristics and values as there is no one-size-fits-all solution in this regard. © Social Sciences Academic Press.

Controlling the Rotor Angle Stability of Single Machine Infinite Bus System in the Presence of Wiener and Alpha-Stable Levy Type Power Fluctuations
(World Scientific Publishing, 2020) Yılmaz, Serpil; Savacı, Ferit Acar
The integration of renewable energy sources into the power systems and the growth of electricity consumption leads to a considerable increase in the power fluctuations. In the first part of this study, the control of the rotor angle stability of single machine infinite bus system in the presence of Wiener type power fluctuations has been achieved by minimizing the corresponding stochastic sensitivity function. In the second part, the power fluctuations have been modeled by alpha-stable Levy processes and since stochastic sensitivity function is not available for alpha-stable Levy processes, then the control of the rotor angle stability has been numerically achieved by minimizing the corresponding rotor angle dispersion for the first time in the literature. © World Scientific Publishing Company

Locally Isomorphic Torsionless Modules Over Domains of Finite Character
(World Scientific Publishing, 2019) Saylam, Başak Ay; Klingler, Lee
In a 2002 paper, P. Goeters and B. Olberding compare local, near, and stable isomorphisms of torsionless modules over h-local domains. In this paper, we compare these weaker forms of isomorphisms of torsionless modules over domains of finite character.

On the Structure of Modules Defined by Subinjectivity
(World Scientific Publishing, 2019) Altınay, Ferhat; Büyükaşık, Engin; Durgun, Yılmaz
The aim of this paper is to present new results and generalize some results about indigent modules. The commutative rings whose simple modules are indigent or injective are fully determined. The rings whose cyclic right modules are indigent are shown to be semisimple Artinian. We give a complete characterization of indigent modules over commutative hereditary Noetherian rings. We show that a reduced module is indigent if and only if it is a Whitehead test module for injectivity over commutative hereditary noetherian rings. Furthermore, Dedekind domains are characterized by test modules for injectivity by subinjectivity.

Fully Three-Dimensional Analysis of a Photonic Crystal Assisted Silicon on Insulator Waveguide Bend
(World Scientific Publishing, 2018) Eti, Neslihan; Çetin, Zebih; Sözüer, Hüseyin Sami
A detailed numerical study of low-loss silicon on insulator (SOI) waveguide bend is presented using the fully three-dimensional (3D) finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The geometrical parameters are optimized to minimize the bending loss over a range of frequencies. Transmission results for the conventional single bend and photonic crystal assisted SOI waveguide bend are compared. Calculations are performed for the transmission values of TE-like modes where the electric field is strongly transverse to the direction of propagation. The best obtained transmission is over 95% for TE-like modes.

Regression-Based Prediction for Task-Based Program Performance
(World Scientific Publishing, 2019) Öz, Işıl; Bhatti, Muhammad Khurram; Popov, Konstantin; Brorsson, Mats
As multicore systems evolve by increasing the number of parallel execution units, parallel programming models have been released to exploit parallelism in the applications. Task-based programming model uses task abstractions to specify parallel tasks and schedules tasks onto processors at runtime. In order to increase the efficiency and get the highest performance, it is required to identify which runtime configuration is needed and how processor cores must be shared among tasks. Exploring design space for all possible scheduling and runtime options, especially for large input data, becomes infeasible and requires statistical modeling. Regression-based modeling determines the effects of multiple factors on a response variable, and makes predictions based on statistical analysis. In this work, we propose a regression-based modeling approach to predict the task-based program performance for different scheduling parameters with variable data size. We execute a set of task-based programs by varying the runtime parameters, and conduct a systematic measurement for influencing factors on execution time. Our approach uses executions with different configurations for a set of input data, and derives different regression models to predict execution time for larger input data. Our results show that regression models provide accurate predictions for validation inputs with mean error rate as low as 6.3%, and 14% on average among four task-based programs.

Covert Electromagnetic Nanoscale Communication System in the Terahertz Channel
(World Scientific Publishing, 2020) Ahmed, Areeb; Savacı, Ferit Acar
In this paper, an electromagnetic nano random communication system (EM-nRCS) has been proposed which ensures covert communication in the terahertz (THz) band. In the proposed system, the skewed alpha-stable noise shift keying method has been used to transmit random noise signals (RNSs) from the nano-transmitter (NT) by utilizing single-walled/carbon nanotubes-based true random number generator (SWCNTs-TRNG) and a graphene-based nano-antenna. A line-of-sight THz transparency window between 0.1 THz and 0.5 THz in the THz channel with spreading loss, molecular absorption loss and molecular absorption noise has been considered. Due to the broadband nature of the RNSs, the proposed EM-nRCS provides efficient transmission by overcoming the high path loss and intense channel noise arising from random fluctuations in the THz band. Non-coherent nano-receiver (NR) consisting of the modified extreme value method (MEVM) estimator has been proposed to extract the hidden binary information in the received RNSs. The bit error rate performance shows that the proposed EM-nRCS ensures high performance and covertness for future EM nanoscale communication devices.
