Conference Object Citation - WoS: 24Effect of pH and Hydration on the Normal and Lateral Interaction Forces Between Alumina Surfaces(2006) Polat, Mehmet; Sato, Kimiyasu; Nagaoka, Takaaki; Watari, KojiNormal and lateral interaction forces between alumina surfaces were measured using Atomic Force Microscopy-Colloid Probe Method at different pH. The normal force curves exhibit a well-defined repulsive barrier and an attractive minimum at acidic pH and the DLVO theory shows excellent agreement with the data. The normal forces are always repulsive at basic pH and the theory fails to represent the measurements. Lateral forces are almost an order of magnitude smaller in the basic solutions. These differences, which have important implications in the study of stability and rheology, are attributed to the hydration of the alumina surface at basic pH. © 2013 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.Editorial How Doorknob Gets Its Meaning(Routledge, 2005) Doğan, Fehmi; Nersessian, Nancy J.Jerry Fodor’s (1998) Concepts: Where Cognitive Science Went Wrong (hereafter referred to as Concepts) and Geoffrey C. Bowker and Susan Leigh Star’s (1999) Sorting Things Out: Classification and its Consequences (hereafter referred to as Sorting) represent orthogonal views of concepts and categories stemming from two very different philosophical traditions. Fodor focuses on theories of concepts, whereas Bowker and Star discuss what categories and classification systems are. For Fodor, concepts are mental particulars that apply to things in the world (p. 23).Conference Object Citation - WoS: 37Graph Theoretic Clustering Algorithms in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks and Wireless Sensor Networks (survey)(Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, 2007) Erciyeş, Kayhan; Dağdeviren, Orhan; Çokuslu, Deniz; Özsoyeller, DenizClustering in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is an important method to ease topology management and routing in such networks. Once the clusters are formed, the leaders (coordinators) of the clusters may be used to form a backbone for efficient routing and communication purposes. A set of clusters may also provide the underlying physical structure for multicast communication for a higher level group communication module which may effectively be used for fault tolerance and key management for security purposes. We survey graph theoretic approaches for clustering in MANETs and WSNS and show that although there is a wide range of such algorithms, each may be suitable for a different cross-layer design objective.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1A Study of Multiple Drug Resistance Mechanisms Improved Against Bortezomib on Multiple Myeloma Cell Lines in Vitro(American Society of Hematology, 2007) Uyuklu, Tolga; Ural, A. Uğur; Sarper, Metal; Avcu, Ferit; Baran, Yusuf; Elçi, Pınar; Akar, NejatThe most important problem in the treatment of Multiple Myeloma (MM) is the multi drug resistance (MDR) observed before and after the treatment. For this reason in MM cases an early resistance to treatment can be developed or the disease can relapsed in early period. Yet, there has been no improved drug resistance against proteazom inhibitor Bortezomib (Bor), which is used alone or with other chemotherapeutic agents in resistant or relapsed MM casesConference Object Dietary Garlic Prevents Development of Diabesity in Mice(FASEB, 2009) Tu, Chen-Pei David; Akgül, Bünyamin; Lin, Kai-Wei; Pan, Huei-Ju; Chen, Yen-Hui; Lu, Tzu-Huan; Chen, Yuan-Tsong[No abstract available]Conference Object Accumulation of Apoptotic Ceramides Increased Apoptotic Effects of Nilotinib in Philadelphia Positive Meg-01 Cells Synergistically(Ferrata Storti Foundation, 2009) Baran, Yusuf; Gençer, Emel Başak; Ural, Ali Uğur; Avcu, Ferit[No abstract available]Conference Object Increasing De Novo Synthesis of Ceramides Increased Nilotinib Induced Apoptosis in Human Meg-01 Chronic Megacaryoblastic Cells(Ferrata Storti Foundation, 2009) Baran, Yusuf; Gençer, Emel Başak; Ural, Ali Uğur; Avcu, Ferit[No abstract available]Conference Object Targeting Ceramide Metabolism Increased Sensitivity of Philadelphia Positif Chronic Megacaryoblastic Leukemia Cells To Dasatinib(Ferrata Storti Foundation, 2009) Gençer, Emel Başak; Ural, Ali Uğur; Avcu, Ferit; Baran, Yusuf[No abstract available]Conference Object The Effects of Ceramide, Glucosylceramide and Sphingosine 1 Phosphate in Resveratrol Induced Cell Death in Hl60 Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia Cells(Ferrata Storti Foundation, 2009) Çakır, Zeynep; Saydam, Güray; Şahin, Fahri; Baran, Yusuf[No abstract available]Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1Increasing Intracellular Generation or Accumulation of Ceramides Increased Cytotoxic Effects of Resveratrol in Human K562 Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Cells(Ferrata Storti Foundation, 2009) Kartal Yandım, Melis; Saydam, Güray; Şahin, Fahri; Baran, Yusuf[No abstract available]
