Article Citation - WoS: 180Citation - Scopus: 112Search for Neutral Mssm Higgs Bosons Decaying To a Pair of Tau Leptons in Pp Collisions(Springer Verlag, 2014) Karapınar, Güler; Demir, Durmuş AliA search for neutral Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM) decaying to tau-lepton pairs in pp collisions is performed, using events recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 24.6 fb(-1), with 4.9 fb(-1) at 7TeV and 19.7 fb(-1) at 8TeV. To enhance the sensitivity to neutral MSSM Higgs bosons, the search includes the case where the Higgs boson is produced in association with a b-quark jet. No excess is observed in the tau-lepton-pair invariant mass spectrum. Exclusion limits are presented in the MSSM parameter space for different benchmark scenarios, m(h)(max), m(h)(mod+), m(h)(mod-), light-stop, light-stau, T-phobic, and low-m(H). Upper limits on the cross section times branching fraction for gluon fusion and b-quark associated Higgs boson production are also given.Article Citation - WoS: 80Citation - Scopus: 68Search for Disappearing Tracks in Proton-Proton Collisions at Root S=8 Tev(Springer Verlag, 2015) Karapınar, Güler; Demir, Durmuş AliA search is presented for long-lived charged particles that decay within the CMS detector and produce the signature of a disappearing track. Disappearing tracks are identified as those with little or no associated calorimeter energy deposits and with missing hits in the outer layers of the tracker. The search uses proton-proton collision data recorded at root s = 8 TeV that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb(-1). The results of the search are interpreted in the context of the anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking (AMSB) model. The number of observed events is in agreement with the background expectation, and limits are set on the cross section of direct electroweak chargino production in terms of the chargino mass and mean proper lifetime. At 95% confidence level, AMSB models with a chargino mass less than 260 GeV, corresponding to a mean proper lifetime of 0.2 ns, are excluded.Article Citation - WoS: 8Citation - Scopus: 15Search for Supersymmetry in Proton-Proton Collisions at s=13 Tev in Events With High-Momentum Z Bosons and Missing Transverse Momentum(Springer Verlag, 2020) Karapınar, Güler; Demir, Durmuş AliA search for new physics in events with two highly Lorentz-boosted Z bosons and large missing transverse momentum is presented. The analyzed proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb(-1), were recorded at s = 13 TeV by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC. The search utilizes the substructure of jets with large radius to identify quark pairs from Z boson decays. Backgrounds from standard model processes are suppressed by requirements on the jet mass and the missing transverse momentum. No significant excess in the event yield is observed beyond the number of background events expected from the standard model. For a simplified supersymmetric model in which the Z bosons arise from the decay of gluinos, an exclusion limit of 1920 GeV on the gluino mass is set at 95% confidence level. This is the first search for beyond-standard-model production of pairs of boosted Z bosons plus large missing transverse momentum.Article Citation - WoS: 23Citation - Scopus: 25Search for Supersymmetry in Events With at Least One Photon, Missing Transverse Momentum, and Large Transverse Event Activity in Proton-Proton Collisions at Root S=13tev(Springer Verlag, 2017) Karapınar, Güler; CMS CollaborationA search for physics beyond the standard model in final states with at least one photon, large transverse momentum imbalance, and large total transverse event activity is presented. Such topologies can be produced in gauge-mediated supersymmetry models in which pair-produced gluinos or squarks decay to photons and gravitinos via shortlived neutralinos. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at root s = 13TeV recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2016. No significant excess of events above the expected standard model background is observed. The data are interpreted in simplified models of gluino and squark pair production, in which gluinos or squarks decay via neutralinos to photons. Gluino masses of up to 1.50-2.00TeV and squark masses up to 1.30-1.65TeV are excluded at 95% confidence level, depending on the neutralino mass and branching fraction.Article Citation - WoS: 32Citation - Scopus: 53Searches for Pair Production of Charginos and Top Squarks in Final States With Two Oppositely Charged Leptons in Proton-Proton Collisions at Root S=13 Tev(Springer Verlag, 2018) Karapınar, GülerA search for pair production of supersymmetric particles in events with two oppositely charged leptons (electrons or muons) and missing transverse momentum is reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at TeV collected with the CMS detector during the 2016 data taking period at the LHC. No significant deviation is observed from the predicted standard model background. The results are interpreted in terms of several simplified models for chargino and top squark pair production, assuming R-parity conservation and with the neutralino as the lightest supersymmetric particle. When the chargino is assumed to undergo a cascade decay through sleptons, with a slepton mass equal to the average of the chargino and neutralino masses, exclusion limits at 95% confidence level are set on the masses of the chargino and neutralino up to 800 and 320 GeV, respectively. For top squark pair production, the search focuses on models with a small mass difference between the top squark and the lightest neutralino. When the top squark decays into an off-shell top quark and a neutralino, the limits extend up to 420 and 360 GeV for the top squark and neutralino masses, respectively.Article Citation - WoS: 35Citation - Scopus: 38Search for Supersymmetry in Events With a Tau Lepton Pair and Missing Transverse Momentum in Proton-Proton Collisions at Root S=13tev(Springer Verlag, 2018) Karapınar, Güler; CMS CollaborationA search for the electroweak production of supersymmetric particles in protonproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV is presented in final states with a tau lepton pair. Both hadronic and leptonic decay modes are considered for the tau leptons. Scenarios involving the direct pair production of tau sleptons, or their indirect production via the decays of charginos and neutralinos, are investigated. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 35: 9 fb collected with the CMS detector in 2016. The observed number of events is consistent with the standard model background expectation. The results are interpreted as upper limits on the cross section for tau slepton pair production in di ff erent scenarios. The strongest limits are observed in the scenario of a purely left-handed low mass tau slepton decaying to a nearly massless neutralino. Exclusion limits are also set in the context of simpli fi ed models of chargino-neutralino and chargino pair production with decays to tau leptons, and range up to 710 and 630 GeV, respectively.Article Citation - WoS: 7Citation - Scopus: 21Search for Supersymmetry in Events With a Photon, a Lepton, and Missing Transverse Momentum in Proton-Proton Collisions at Root S=13 Tev(Springer Verlag, 2019) Karapınar, Güler; CMS CollaborationResults of a search for supersymmetry are presented using events with a photon, an electron or muon, and large missing transverse momentum. The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV, produced by the LHC and collected with the CMS detector in 2016. Theoretical models with gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking predict events with photons in the final state, as well as electroweak gauge bosons decaying to leptons. Searches for events with a photon, a lepton, and missing transverse momentum are sensitive probes of these models. No excess of events is observed beyond expectations from standard model processes. The results of the search are interpreted in the context of simplified models inspired by gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. These models are used to derive upper limits on the production cross sections and set lower bounds on masses of supersymmetric particles. Gaugino masses below 930 GeV are excluded at the 95% confidence level in a simplified model with electroweak production of a neutralino and chargino. For simplified models of gluino and squark pair production, gluino masses up to 1.75 TeV and squark masses up to 1.43 TeV are excluded at the 95% confidence level.Article Citation - Scopus: 12Search for the Pair Production of Light Top Squarks in the E(+/-)mu(- Final State in Proton-Proton Collisions at Root S=13 Tev(Springer Verlag, 2019) Karapınar, Güler; CMS CollaborationA search for the production of a pair of top squarks at the LHC is presented. This search targets a region of parameter space where the kinematics of top squark pair production and top quark pair production are very similar, because of the mass difference between the top squark and the neutralino being close to the top quark mass. The search is performed with 35.9 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 13 TeV, collected by the CMS detector in 2016, using events containing one electron-muon pair with opposite charge. The search is based on a precise estimate of the top quark pair background, and the use of the M-T2 variable, which combines the transverse mass of each lepton and the missing transverse momentum. No excess of events is found over the standard model predictions. Exclusion limits are placed at 95% confidence level on the production of top squarks up to masses of 208 GeV for models with a mass difference between the top squark and the lightest neutralino close to that of the top quark.Article Citation - WoS: 18Citation - Scopus: 22Search for Supersymmetry in Final States With Photons and Missing Transverse Momentum in Proton-Proton Collisions at 13 Tev(Springer Verlag, 2019) Sirunyan, A. M.; Tumasyan, A.; Adam, W.; Ambrogi, F.; Asilar, E.; Bergauer, T.; Karapınar, Güler; CMS CollaborationResults are reported of a search for supersymmetry in final states with photons and missing transverse momentum in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1) collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV using the CMS detector. The results are interpreted in the context of models of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. Production cross section limits are set on gluino and squark pair production in this framework. Gluino masses below 1.86 TeV and squark masses below 1.59 TeV are excluded at 95% confidence level.Article Citation - WoS: 12Citation - Scopus: 39Search for Supersymmetry With a Compressed Mass Spectrum in the Vector Boson Fusion Topology With 1-Lepton and 0-Lepton Final States in Proton-Proton Collisions at P Root S=13 Tev(Springer Verlag, 2019) Karapınar, Güler; CMS CollaborationA search for supersymmetric particles produced in the vector boson fusion topology in proton-proton collisions is presented. The search targets final states with one or zero leptons, large missing transverse momentum, and two jets with a large separation in rapidity. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at root s = 13TeV collected in 2016 with the CMS detector at the LHC. The observed dijet invariant mass and lepton-neutrino transverse mass spectra are found to be consistent with the standard model predictions. Upper limits are set on the cross sections for chargino ((chi) over tilde (+/-)(1)) and neutralino ((chi) over tilde (0)(2)) production with two associated jets. For a compressed mass spectrum scenario in which the (chi) over tilde (+/-)(1) and (chi) over tilde (0)(2) decays proceed via a light slepton and the mass difference between the lightest neutralino chi(0)(1) and the mass-degenerate particles (chi) over tilde (+/-)(1) and (chi) over tilde (0)(2) is 1 (30) GeV, the most stringent lower limit to date of 112 (215) GeV is set on the mass of these latter two particles.
