Biquandle Power Brackets of Oriented Links
(Tubitak Scientific & Technological Research Council Turkey, 2025) Gügümcü, Neslihan; Nelson, Sam
In this paper, we introduce biquandle power brackets, an infinite family of invariants of oriented links containing the classical skein invariants and the quandle and biquandle 2-cocycle invariants as special cases. Biquandle power brackets are generalizations of biquandle brackets in which the values of Kauffman states also depend on the biquandle colors they admit. We provide example computations and discuss the relationship between these new invariants and the previous cases.

The Adjoint Reidemeister Torsion for Compact 3-Manifolds Admitting a Unique Decomposition
(TÜBİTAK - Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, 2023) Erdal, Esma Dirican
Let M be a triangulated, oriented, connected compact 3 -manifold with a connected nonempty boundary. Such a manifold admits a unique decomposition into △ -prime 3 -manifolds. In this paper, we show that the adjoint Reidemeister torsion has a multiplicative property on the disk sum decomposition of compact 3 -manifolds without a corrective term.

Resting Electroencephalography Differences Between Eyes-Closed and Eyes-Open Conditions in Children With Subclinical Hypothyroidism
(AVES, 2023) Bayazıt, Onur; Kahya, Mehmet Cemal; Çatlı, Gönül; Kocaaslan Atlı, Sibel; Olgaç Dündar, Nihal; Erdoğan, Uğraş; Evirgen Esin, Nur
Objective: Electroencephalography changes that occur during the transition from eyes-closed to the eyes-open state in resting condition are related to the early phase of sensory processing and are defined as activation. The present study aimed to reveal the potential deteriorations that may occur in the initial period of sensory processing in resting electroencephalography between children with subclinical hypothyroidism and a control group. Materials and Methods: Electroencephalographies of 15 children with subclinical hypothy-roidism and 15 healthy children aged 10 to 17 years were recorded for 2 minutes for EC and 2 minutes for eyes-open conditions in resting state. Absolute electroencephalography band powers (μV2) within the delta, theta, alpha, and beta frequency bands were calculated in Fz, Cz, Pz, and Oz electrodes, respectively, for eyes-closed and eyes-open conditions. Results: The results show that, although there was no noteworthy difference between the powers of the electroencephalography frequency bands of children with subclinical hypothyroidism and healthy children during the eyes-open condition, the alpha powers of the control group were significantly higher in all electrodes during the eyes-closed condition. Furthermore, the powers of all frequency bands were observed to decrease in the eyes-open condition in the control group. However, the same net decrease was not observed in the frequency powers of children with subclinical hypothyroidism. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, children with subclinical hypothyroidism may experience information processing impairments starting in the early stages of sensory processing. © 2023, AVES. Discrete Fractional Integrals, Lattice Points on Short Arcs, and Diophantine Approximation
(TÜBİTAK - Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, 2022) Temur, Faruk
Recently in joint work with E. Sert, we proved sharp boundedness results on discrete fractional integral operators along binary quadratic forms. Present work vastly enhances the scope of those results by extending boundedness to bivariate quadratic polynomials. We achieve this in part by establishing connections to problems on concentration of lattice points on short arcs of conics, whence we study discrete fractional integrals and lattice point concentration from a unified perspective via tools of sieving and diophantine approximation, and prove theorems that are of interest to researchers in both subjects.

A Note on Points on Algebraic Sets
(Hacettepe Üniversitesi, 2021) Çam Çelik, Şermin; Göral, Haydar
In this short note, we count the points on algebraic sets which lie in a subset of a domain. It is proved that the set of points on algebraic sets coming from certain subsets of a domain has the full asymptotic. This generalizes the first theorem of [E. Alkan and E.S. Yoruk, Statistics and characterization of matrices by determinant and trace, Ramanujan J., 2019] and also anwers some questions from the same article.

    Stability in Commutative Rings
(TÜBİTAK - Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, 2020) Ay Saylam, Başak
Let R be a commutative ring with zero-divisors and I an ideal of R. I is said to be ES-stable if JI = $I^2$ for some invertible ideal J ? I , and I is said to be a weakly ES-stable ideal if there is an invertible fractional ideal J and an idempotent fractional ideal E of R such that I = JE . We prove useful facts for weakly ES-stability and investigate this stability in Noetherian-like settings. Moreover, we discuss a question of A. Mimouni on locally weakly ES-stable rings: is a locally weakly ES-stable domain of finite character weakly ES-stable?

Military Intelligence Deeds in the Reports of Izmir British Consulate General (1878-1914)
    (Ege Univ, 2011) Aditatar, Funda
From 1825 up to the late nineteenth century the British Levant Consular Service developed highly parallel with the policy of Britain in the Ottoman Empire. During the protection policy of the Ottoman territory which continued until the 1870s, political and commercial aspects of consular services has been formulated almost an equal level. Instead of protecting the territorial integrity of the Empire after the Berlin Treaty of 1878 turned into a controlled sharing and consuls began press to served heavily political direction. The aim of this paper is to evaluate reports of Izmir British Consulate about military intelligence. The voluminous reports of the consulate related with the military intelligence. This situation occurs in Izmir because of commercial importance and strategic location, and also riots and wars all of these can be explained in the intensive military mobility during the last period of the Empire (1878-1914).

Rings With Few Units and the Infinitude of Primes
(Hacettepe Üniversitesi, 2020) Özcan, Hikmet Burak; Taşkın, Sedef
In this short note, our aim is to provide novel proofs for the infinitude of primes in an algebraic way. It’s thought that the first proof for the infinitude of primes was given by the Ancient Greek mathematician Euclid. To date, most of the proofs have been based on the fact that every positive integer greater than 1 can be written as a product of prime numbers. However, first we are going to prove a ring theoretic fact that if R is an infinite commutative ring with unity and the cardinality of the set of invertible elements is strictly less than the cardinality of the ring, then there are infinitely many maximal ideals. This fact leads to an elegant proof for the infinitude of primes. In addition, under the same cardinality assumption, we consider the special case in which R is a unique factorization domain (for short UFD) and establish another ring theoretic result. Thanks to it, we give a second proof of the infinitude of primes. © 2020, Hacettepe University. All rights reserved.

The Frequency Function and Its Connections To the Lebesgue Points and the Hardy-Littlewood Maximal Function
    (TÜBİTAK, 2019) Temur, Faruk
The aim of this work is to extend the recent work of the author on the discrete frequency function to the more delicate continuous frequency function tau, and further to investigate its relations to the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function M, and to the Lebesgue points. We surmount the intricate issue of measurability of tau f by approaching it with a sequence of carefully constructed auxiliary functions for which measurability is easier to prove. After this, we give analogues of the recent results on the discrete frequency function. We then connect the points of discontinuity of Mf for f simple to the zeros of tau f, and to the non-Lebesgue points of f.

Bleach-Containing Automatic Toilet-Bowl Cleaners as Sources of Vocs, Associated Indoor Air Concentrations and Carcinogenic Risk
(Turkish National Committee for Air Pollution Research (TUNCAP), 2020) Ayrı, İlknur; Genişoğlu, Mesut; Gaygısız, Handan; Sofuoğlu, Aysun; Sofuoğlu, Sait Cemil
Household cleaning products are sources of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Bleach containing products are a special case because reactions occur between chloride and their organic content such as surfactants, perfumes, etc., generating VOCs. This study aimed to determine concentration of 13 VOCs in bleach-containing automatic toilet cleaners, to estimate their indoor air concentrations and associated exposure and health risk levels. Experiments with products purchased from supermarkets were conducted in 20-mL headspace vials by placing 1 g of sample with and without water. Solid-phase micro extraction with a DVB/CAR/PDMS fiber assembly was used for adsorption of VOCs from the headspace, and analyzed using a GC-MS. The median carbon tetrachloride and chloroform concentrations of the studied products ranged from 5.03 × 10?3 to 2.37 × 10?2 ?g/g and 2.53 × 10?2 to 2.37 ?g/g, respectively. The modeled 95th percentile indoor air concentrations in a 1.6 m3 bathroom with no ventilation were estimated to be 1 and 20 ?g/m3 for carbon tetrachloride and chloroform, respectively. The 95th percentile carcinogenic risk associated even with the use of the highest content product, 3.72 × 10?7 and 8.62 × 10?7 for carbon tetrachloride and chloroform respectively, were below the acceptable risk. In conclusion, automatic toilet-bowl cleaners were found to be sources of VOCs, but their emission potentials are not high to cause considerable indoor air concentrations over their suggested product lifetime. In turn, carcinogenic risks associated with inhalation exposure are below the de Minimis risk level of 10?6. © 2020
