Measurement of the Inclusive Jet Cross Section in Pp Collisions at ?s=7tev
(American Physical Society, 2011) Karapınar, Güler; Demir, Durmuş Ali
The inclusive jet cross section is measured in pp collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider using the CMS experiment. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 34pb -1. The measurement is made for jet transverse momenta in the range 18-1100 GeV and for absolute values of rapidity less than 3. The measured cross section extends to the highest values of jet pT ever observed and, within the experimental and theoretical uncertainties, is generally in agreement with next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD predictions. © 2011 CERN

Search for New Physics With Jets and Missing Transverse Momentum in Pp Collisions at ?s = 7 Tev
(Springer Verlag, 2011) Karapınar, Güler; Demir, Durmuş Ali
A search for new physics is presented based on an event signature of at least three jets accompanied by large missing transverse momentum, using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb-1 collected in proton-proton collisions at √s = 7TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. No excess of events is observed above the expected standard model backgrounds, which are all estimated from the data. Exclusion limits are presented for the constrained minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model. Cross section limits are also presented using simplified models with new particles decaying to an undetected particle and one or two jets.
