Conference Object Evaluation of an Integrated Gis-Based Crime Analysis & 3d Modelling for Izmir-Konak Municipality(International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, 2011) Tarhan, Çiğdem; Deniz, DenizGIS integrated 3D modelling is crucial for the city planning and design processes because urban modelling is a tool used in virtual environments, and provides convenience to work. Although, the creation and display of 3D city models for large regions is difficult it is vital for planning and designing safer cities, as well as public places. Today, crime is a significant problem in Turkey. When it was compared by years of crime rates, population growth and urbanization rate, an increasing more than in parallel has been observed. This paper aims to discuss GIS integrated 3D modelling affects in urban planning and design, explaining Turkish planning processes with GIS and 3D modelling. To do that, it presents a case study for Izmir Konak Municipality about GIS integrated crime analysis and 3D models of the crime scenes. Izmir crime records has been obtained from Izmir Police Department belonging to 2003-2004 and 2005 (D.Deniz, 2007) are used for districts’ crime map. In traditional terms, the concern of the designer has ended with the launch of the product, but the environment-conscious designer should think about its complete life. To develop products in a sustainable way, the designer must be able to assess which design solution is better from the environmental point of view. The basic aim of this study is to help designers to comprehend the features of .Sustainable Product Design.. In other words, this thesis aims, together with considering environmental issues, to determine the basic changes occuring in design process and to lead the designer in the light of these principles. One of the main purpose of chapter 2 is to examine the every aspects of industrial product design from the sustainable point of view. In chapter 3, the changing design process is analysed by considering many specific examples which help us to comprehend the .Sustainable Product Design Process.. In chapter 4, the main environmental issues (such as global warming, water pollution, waste and noise etc...) are analysed to indicate that how industrial products affect the environment. In this chapter, there are three main sectors which are specific from the environmental point of view are selected to examine, such as electrical & electronic products, packaging and furniture products. All sectors are completely considered in specific examples to understand the relationship between the environmental issues and product design. Finally, the thesis include a case study in accordance with sustainable design context and using appropriate materials. Keywords : Sustainability, sustainable design, product, environment, recycling.
