Uğur; Sarper, Metal; Avcu, Ferit; Baran, Yusuf; Elçi, Pınar; Akar, NejatThe most important problem in the treatment of Multiple Myeloma (MM) is the multi drug resistance (MDR) observed before and after the treatment. For this reason in MM cases an early resistance to treatment can be developed or the disease can relapsed in early period. Yet, there has been no improved drug resistance against proteazom inhibitor Bortezomib (Bor), which is used alone or with other chemotherapeutic agents in resistant or relapsed MM casesConference Object A Novel Agent, Kl-21, Has Significant Anticancer Potential on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Cells but Not on Healthy Cells(Ferrata Storti Foundation, 2012) Baran, Yusuf; Gökbulut, Aysun; Yaşar, M.[No abstract available]Conference Object Antiproliferative and Apoptotic Effects of Resveratrol on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Cells(Ferrata Storti Foundation, 2012) Baran, Yusuf; Gökbulut, Aysun; Özcan, Mehmet Ali; Pişkin, Özden; Ünlü, Miray[No abstract available]Conference Object Citation - WoS: 2Incorporation of Equisetum Arvense Extract Into Silk Fibroin-Hyaluronic Acid Sponge Matrices for Wound Dressing Applications(Elsevier, 2012) Uslu, Mehmet Emin; Erdoğan, İpek; Bayraktar, OğuzEquisetum arvense extract has frequently been investigated for its antioxidant capacity, antimicrobial and antitumor properties. However, one of the challenges in natural compound investi-gations is to maintain the stability of polyphenolic compounds during their storage and applications. For this purpose extracts can be incorporated into different forms of biomaterial. In this research silk fibroin (SF) and hyaluronic acid (HA) was used as sponge matri-ces for wound dressing application.Conference Object Hormones and the Breast: Local and Environmental Interactions(American Association for Cancer Research, 2012) Brisken, C.; Rajaram, R.; Ayyannan, A.; Beleut, M.; Yalçın, ÖzdenA woman's reproductive history affects her risk to get breast cancer. In particular, the number of menstrual cycles she experiences correlates with risk. We use tissue recombination experiments and different mouse mutant models to discern the roles of the ovarian hormones estrogens and progesterone act in the mammary gland. While estrogens drive pubertal development, progesterone is the major driver of proliferation in the adult mammary epithelium. Both steroids rely strongly on paracrine signaling to elicit cell proliferation and other biological effects.Conference Object Keratitis-Ichthyosis Syndrome Associated Mutations Impair the Localization and Functions of Connexin 26(Nature Publishing Group, 2015) Aypek, Hande; Meşe, GülistanConnexins (Cx) form gap junctions and non-junctional hemichannels that play roles in several cellular mechanisms, including proliferation and differentiation. The importance of connexins for human physiology was shown by the association of mutations in several isoforms with various human hereditary disorders. Mutations in Cx26 cause both non-syndromic and syndromic deafness associated with skin disorders including keratitis-ichthyosis-deafness (KID) syndrome. In vitro characterization of Cx26 mutations suggested that mutations causing non-syndromic deafness and syndromic deafness show different properties, where the former ones result in loss-of-function and the latter ones cause gain-of-function mutations.
