    EXPERIMENTAL AND ANALYTICAL EXAMINATION OF THE EFFECT OF DOUBLE SKIN FAÇADE SYSTEM ON BUILDING THERMAL PERFORMANCE;
    (Turk Isi Bilimi ve Teknigi Dernegi, 2021) Hülagü,S.; Göksal Özbalta,T.; Başaran,T.
    In this study, heat transfer in conventional single skin façade and double skin façade system was studied experimentally and numerically by using one dimensional time dependent approach and the effects of the façade systems on building energy performance especially heating energy was investigated. In this context, a mathematical model considering user behavior and window aluminum frame element effect was build by zonal analysis method to calculate the heat transfer in single and box type closed cavity double skin façade systems, and build model was experimentally verified. Experimental study was conducted in office spaces having single and double skin façade systems in Ege University, Civil Engineering Building’s south façade in January 2017. Next, verified model was used to study the heat transfer in the façade systems for İzmir’s climatic condition by using monthly average daily data. The change in thermal performance of single and double skin façade systems due to the climatic condition during a year was investigated by using the 10 year average climate data of İzmir (Mediterranean climate). It was found that double skin façade system acts as an insulator preventing extreme indoor temperature values, thus contributing to the indoor comfort level against changing outdoor conditions. ©2021 TIBTD Printed in Turkey.

    İzmir’deki Ulaştırma Projelerinin Kentsel Eğilimlere Etkileri
    (TMMOB İnşaat Mühendisleri Odası, 2008) Duvarcı, Yavuz; Selvi, Ömer; Günaydın, Hüsnü Murat; Gür, Güneş
    İzmir’deki önemli ulaştırma projelerinin kentsel eğilimlere olan etkileri Delphi yöntemi sonuçları temel alınarak analiz edilmiştir. Delphi yöntemine göre yakınsama sağlanmış etkiler, sonrasında daha anlamlı ve özet sonuçlar elde etmek amacıyla toplamdaki etkiler yöntemiyle yeniden değerlendirilmiştir. Yönteme göre, mutlak toplam etkilere (MED), net toplam etkilere (NED) ve en genel anlamda etki yeterlik düzeylerine bakılarak genel sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. En etkili (olumlu/olumsuz yönde) projeler, bütünleştirilmiş raylı toplu taşıma sistemi, mevcut İzmir limanının geliştirilmesi; en fazla etkilenen sosyoekonomik eğilimler ise turizm sektöründeki gelişim, ekonomik gelişme, hava kirliliği ve özel araç kullanım oranı olarak çıkmıştır.

    The Importance of Internal Heat Gains for Building Cooling Design
    (Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi, 2017) Coşkun, Turgay; Turhan, Cihan; Durmuş Arsan, Zeynep; Gökçen Akkurt, Gülden
    This paper aims to investigate the effect of internal heat gains on the cooling load of a building. The house occupied by three adult men is selected as the case study for paper. The house is in the third floor of the apartment. The apartment has four flats and it has no insulation around the external walls. The heat dissipation from lighting devices, electrical equipment and the occupants are calculated by using the DesignBuilder v4 Beta release simulation program. The temperature of the house is observed during three weeks by using hobo data loggers and calibration of the measurements is made with respect to weather data file of the flat. Detailed schedule based on time of operation and occupancy is prepared to get more accurate results. Annual energy consumption and cooling load of the house is determined by using the dynamic simulation program.

    Impacts of Transportation Projects on Urban Trends in Izmir
    (Turkish Chamber of Civil Engineers, 2008) Duvarcı, Yavuz; Selvi, Ömer; Günaydın, Hüsnü Murat; Gür, Güneş
    The effects of major transportation projects on urban trends in Izmir were analyzed using the Delphi method. Once convergence was maintained in expert opinions, the Delphi results were re-evaluated according to the suggested method of total evaluation for obtaining much concise and general results. Accordingly, Absolute Total Impacts (ATI), Net Total Impacts (NTI) and the impact levels in broader terms were defined. The most effective projects were found to be: Integrated Rail Transportation System, Enhancement of Existing İzmir Port. The most impacted trends were: Development in Tourism Sector, Economic Development, Air Pollution and the Ratio of Private Car Ownership.
