History of the Chemical Engineering Department of IzTech: 1996: The IzTech Chemical Engineering Department is founded in November, 1996. 1998: The Chemical Engineering program welcomes undergraduate and graduate students. 2001: The first Master’s student graduates and enrollment for PhD program begins. 2002: The first undergraduates graduate from the Chemical Engineering program. 2005: The department moves to its current building on the Gülbahçe campus. 2007: The first PhD student graduates from the Chemical Engineering program. 16 faculty members who have their PhD degrees from distinguished universities abroad work in a wide variety of areas like advanced materials, biochemical and bioprocessing engineering, catalysts, process control, separation and purification, surface engineering, energy (traditional and renewable) and environmental issues.
