Dalgacık Tepeleri Kullanarak İ̇şaretlerin Bileşenlerine Ayrılması
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2007) Özkurt, Nalan; Savacı, Ferit Acar

Stochastic Bifurcation in Generalized Chua's Circuit Through Alpha-Stable Levy Noise
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2018) Savacı, Ferit Acar; Yılmaz, Serpil
In this study, we investigate the changes in the dynamics of generalized Chua's circuit through a-stable Levy noise in the framework of stochastic bifurcation concept. By choosing the noise intensity, characteristic exponent (impulsiveness parameter) and the skewness parameter of the a-stable Levy noise as the bifurcation parameters we have observed the qualitative changes in the stationary probability distributions and in the structures of the stochastic attractors.

    Analysis of Stochastic Dynamical Systems
(Izmir Institute of Technology, 2007) Güngör, Mesut; Savacı, Ferit Acar; Savacı, Ferit Acar; Savacı, Ferit Acar
In this thesis, analysis of stochastic dynamical systems have been considered in the sense of stochastic differential equations (SDEs). Brownian motion, which can be considered as a first example of stochastic dynamical systems, its derivation and its properties have been investigated, then the analytic and numerical solution methods of SDE have been studied with the examples from the physical world. In order to construct a random variable in a computer environment, random number generation algorithms have also been investigated. Finally a Matlab-Simulink block for numerical solutions of linear SDEs has been newly developed.

Random Communication Systems Based on Alpha-Stable Processes
(Izmir Institute of Technology, 2018) Ahmed, Areeb; Savacı, Ferit Acar; Ahmed, Areeb; Savacı, Ferit Acar
This thesis presents alpha-stable carrier based random communication systems (RCSs) as an alternate way to perform covert transmission. The first objective is to develop an optimized model of RCS which consists of a receiver that requires less computational complexity and outperforms the previously proposed receivers. Next, in order to solve the existing synchronization issue in RCSs, the general behavior of fractional lower-order covariance method in α-stable noise environments has been evaluated to establish synchronization in RCSs. An optimized range of values for the associated parameters of α-stable carrier has also been presented to optimize the proposed synchronization method. The second objective is to establish criteria for evaluating and quantifying the security and covertness of RCSs. Therefore, the first security performance tradeoff characteristics (SPTC) have been proposed to compare the security of different RCSs. Moreover, the proposed optimized model of RCS has also been analyzed with respect to the developed security scale, i.e. SPTC. Secondly, the criterion to quantify the covertness of RCSs has also been developed to analyze the proposed RCS. Thirdly, an attack for RCS has also been proposed which highlights the potential vulnerabilities of RCSs. However, the counter-measure guidelines have been prescribed to further enhance the security of RCSs. An inverse system approach has been adopted to propose α-stable noise driven linear time invariant system based transmitter and its corresponding inverse system based receiver as a third objective. It can be considered as the most secure model for αstable noise carrier based RCS till now.

Skewed Alpha-Stable Distributions for Modeling and Classification of Musical Instruments
(Türkiye Klinikleri Journal of Medical Sciences, 2012) Özbek, Mehmet Erdal; Çek, Mehmet Emre; Savacı, Ferit Acar
Music information retrieval and particularly musical instrument classification has become a very popular research area for the last few decades. Although in the literature many feature sets have been proposed to represent the musical instrument sounds, there is still need to find a superior feature set to achieve better classification performance. In this paper, we propose to use the parameters of skewed alpha-stable distribution of sub-band wavelet coefficients of musical sounds as features and show the effectiveness of this new feature set for musical instrument classification. We compare the classification performance with the features constructed from the parameters of generalized Gaussian density and some of the state-of-the-art features using support vector machine classifiers.

Covert Electromagnetic Nanoscale Communication System in the Terahertz Channel
(World Scientific Publishing, 2020) Ahmed, Areeb; Savacı, Ferit Acar
In this paper, an electromagnetic nano random communication system (EM-nRCS) has been proposed which ensures covert communication in the terahertz (THz) band. In the proposed system, the skewed alpha-stable noise shift keying method has been used to transmit random noise signals (RNSs) from the nano-transmitter (NT) by utilizing single-walled/carbon nanotubes-based true random number generator (SWCNTs-TRNG) and a graphene-based nano-antenna. A line-of-sight THz transparency window between 0.1 THz and 0.5 THz in the THz channel with spreading loss, molecular absorption loss and molecular absorption noise has been considered. Due to the broadband nature of the RNSs, the proposed EM-nRCS provides efficient transmission by overcoming the high path loss and intense channel noise arising from random fluctuations in the THz band. Non-coherent nano-receiver (NR) consisting of the modified extreme value method (MEVM) estimator has been proposed to extract the hidden binary information in the received RNSs. The bit error rate performance shows that the proposed EM-nRCS ensures high performance and covertness for future EM nanoscale communication devices.

Estimating Probability Density Functions and Entropies of Chua's Circuit Using B-Spline Functions
(World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte Ltd, 2012) Savacı, Ferit Acar; Güngör, Mesut
n this paper, first the probability density functions (PDFs) of the states of Chua's circuit have been estimated using B-spline functions and then the state entropies of Chua's circuit with respect to the bifurcation parameter have been obtained. The results of the proposed B-spline density estimator have been compared with the results obtained from the Parzen density estimator. © 2012 World Scientific Publishing Company.

The Circuit Realization of Mexican Hat Wavelet Function
(Urban und Fischer Verlag GmbH und Co. KG, 2005) Özkurt, Nalan; Savacı, Ferit Acar; Gündüzalp, Mustafa
A wavelet network circuit implementation for Mexican Hat mother wavelet has been proposed for nonlinear function approximation which can also be used for the realization of the algebraic nonlinear components. The Mexican Hat mother wavelet function has been implemented with discrete circuit components and it has been observed that the experimental waveform obtained from the realized circuit is approximately same as the Spice simulation of the original function. The circuit simulations of exemplar functions implemented in Spice are also given. © 2004 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.

Controlling the Rotor Angle Stability of Single Machine Infinite Bus System in the Presence of Wiener and Alpha-Stable Levy Type Power Fluctuations
(World Scientific Publishing, 2020) Yılmaz, Serpil; Savacı, Ferit Acar
The integration of renewable energy sources into the power systems and the growth of electricity consumption leads to a considerable increase in the power fluctuations. In the first part of this study, the control of the rotor angle stability of single machine infinite bus system in the presence of Wiener type power fluctuations has been achieved by minimizing the corresponding stochastic sensitivity function. In the second part, the power fluctuations have been modeled by alpha-stable Levy processes and since stochastic sensitivity function is not available for alpha-stable Levy processes, then the control of the rotor angle stability has been numerically achieved by minimizing the corresponding rotor angle dispersion for the first time in the literature. © World Scientific Publishing Company

Markov Olmayan Ortamlar ile Etkileşimdeki Süperiletken Transmon Kübitlerin Kesirli Dinamiği
    (01. Izmir Institute of Technology, 2025) Savacı, Ferit Acar; Erdoğan, Ruha Uğraş; Savacı, Ferit Acar
