dc.description.abstract Metal soaps are transition metal salts of the fatty acids and the alkaline earth. Although, the alkali salts of the fatty acids such as sodium and potassium are water soluble, metal soap is water insoluble but more soluble in nonpolar organic solvents [1]. Some commercially important metal soap include those of Alluminum, barium, cadmium, calcium, cobalt, copper, iron, lead, lithium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, nickel, zinc, and zirconium. Significant application areas for metal soaps include lubricants and heat stabilizers in plastics as well as driers in paint, varnishes, and printing inks. Other uses are as processing aids in rubber, fuel and lubricant additives, catalysts, gel thickeners, emulsifiers, water repellents, and fungicides [2]. © 2013 by Apple Academic Press, Inc. en_US
