Conference Object Index Modulation of Transient Grating in Nonlinear Medium(SPIE, 2016) Karakılınç, Özgür Önder; Dinleyici, Mehmet SalihA transient chirped grating structure is formed by beam interferences in nonlinear photonic crystal waveguide. Pulse propagation in nonlinear transient grating media is investigated and its impact on the transmission dynamics is explored. The grating may not be stationary propagating but anharmonically oscillating. Thus, effective modification of the refractive index needs to be evaluated in detail.Article Citation - WoS: 8Citation - Scopus: 10Design of Dual-Mode Dual-Band Photonic Crystal Bandpass Filters for Terahertz Communication Applications(John Wiley and Sons Inc., 2015) Karakılınç, Özgür Önder; Dinleyici, Mehmet SalihIn this study, Photonic Crystal (PhC) dual-mode dual-band bandpass filter is designed and its transmission characteristics are investigated for various configurations. PhC resonator structure is formed by a point defect microcavity that is equipped with one large and three smaller auxiliary perturbation rods. Degenerate modes at each band may also be excited by changing the structure properties of the perturbation. Plane wave expansion method and Finite Difference Time-Domain method are used to analyze the device characteristics. Proposed dual-band dual-mode PhC filter structure can effectively be used for terahertz communication applications.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Interference Grating Structures in Photonic Crystal Circuits(Springer Verlag, 2011) Karakılınç, Özgür Önder; Dinleyici, Mehmet SalihPhotonic Crystal Circuits have been widely investigated for various optoelectronics device applications. And the gratings in photonics devices are indispensable tool, which is very common for light manipulation. In this study, an interference grating structure formed by Gaussian beam interferences in photonic crystal waveguide such that having Kerr type nonlinearity is proposed and its transmission characteristics are investigated. Finite-Difference Time-Domain method is used to analyze the device characteristics. According to simulation results, the interference grating has shown special transmission characteristics that can bring tunability for photonic crystal devices. This can be an effective method for controlling optical signals in the photonic crystal for all optical switching/routing applications as a part of add/drop multiplexing.
