Bu çalışmada A ve B, iki haberleşme düğümü olduğu varsayıldığında, A düğümünden B düğümüne olan kanal için elde edilen kanal katsayıları ile, B düğümünden A düğümüne olan kanal için elde edilen kanal katsayılarının benzerliği incelenmiştir. Karşılıklı kanal özelliğinden dolayı bu kanalların birbirine benzer çıkmaları beklenmektedir. Bu çalışmada, laboratuvar ortamında yazılım tabanlı radyo kitleri kullanılarak karşılıklı kanal özelliği test ortamında test edilmiş, bu iki kanal katsayılarının genlik ve faz ortalama değerleri karşılaştırılmıştır.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 2Implementation of Pre-Fft Beamforming in Mimo-Ofdm(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2016) Gökçeli, Selahattin; Uslu, Merve; Karabulut Kurt, Güneş; Özbek, Berna; Alakoca, Hakan; Durmaz, Mehmet AkifIn this study, real-time software defined radio implementation of the point to point multiple input multiple output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system using pre-fast Fourier transform (pre-FFT) beamforming technique in both the transmitter and the receiver is done for the first time in the literature. By taking benefit of the MIMO system's spatial multiplexing property, the performance of the implemented pre-FFT beamforming approach is demonstrated in terms of bit error rate and error vector magnitude measurements. As a result of the test results, the effect of the beamforming methods on the performance of communication systems are clearly observed.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 2Iterative Channel Estimation for Higher Order Modulated Stbc-Ofdm Systems With Reduced Complexity(Korean Society of Internet Information, 2016) Baştürk, İlhan; Özbek, BernaIn this paper, a frequency domain Expectation-Maximization (EM)-based channel estimation algorithm for Space Time Block Coded-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (STBC-OFDM) systems is investigated to support higher data rate applications in wireless communications. The computational complexity of the frequency domain EM-based channel estimation is increased when higher order constellations are used because of the ascending size of the search set space. Thus, a search set reduction algorithm is proposed to decrease the complexity without sacrificing the system performance. The performance results of the proposed algorithm is obtained in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) and Mean Square Error (MSE) for 16QAM and 64QAM modulation schemes.Article Citation - WoS: 9Citation - Scopus: 10Radio Resource Management for User-Relay Assisted Ofdma-Based Wireless Networks(Urban und Fischer Verlag GmbH und Co. KG, 2016) Baştürk, İlhan; Özbek, BernaOrthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) based relay assisted networks are important for current and next-generation wireless networks since they have great potential to provide high data rate to users at anywhere, anytime. Towards that end, fixed relay assisted OFDMA networks are commonly utilized by the operators. However, they require supplementary costly infrastructure. User-relay assisted OFDMA-based networks are promising candidates to fulfill the demanding coverage and capacity requirements of future wireless networks in a cost efficient way. Thus, they have become popular as a complementary solution to fixed relay networks. Generic frame structure that divides the resource allocation frame into two subframes is mostly used in the literature for fixed and user-relay assisted networks in which it is assumed that a user can act as a destination and a relay simultaneously. However, it may be difficult to apply this assumption to practical systems because of the limitations of the current transceiver design. Thus, we propose a novel frame structure for user-relay assisted OFDMA-based wireless networks in order to cope with these drawbacks. The efficient radio resource management algorithms including relay selection and resource allocation are developed in order to exploit the opportunities of the proposed frame structure.Article Citation - WoS: 7Citation - Scopus: 8Performance Evaluation of Multicast Miso-Ofdm Systems(Springer Verlag, 2008) Özbek, Berna; Le Ruyet, Didier; Khanfir, HajerIn this paper, we analyze the performance of multicast orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with single and multiple transmit antennas. We show that the resource allocation that includes the subcarrier allocation, bit loading, and the precoding vector selection in the multiple-input single-output (MISO) case is a difficult optimization problem. Consequently, we propose suboptimal algorithms based on the maximization of the sum data rate and the maximization of the minimum user data rate criteria. For practical application, we consider a complete transmission chain by combining powerful erasure codes with the proposed algorithms. Using this scheme, we guarantee that each user receives the same amount of information to decode the same data. Simulation results show that, for both single-input single-output (SISO)-OFDM and MISO-OFDM cases, the proposed multicast OFDM systems achieve gains over the worst user case algorithm.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 3Low Complexity Zf Receiver for Orthogonal Sfbc-Ofdm in Broadband Wireless Channels(Institution of Engineering and Technology, 2006) Özbek, Berna; Le Ruyet, DidierOrthogonal space-frequency block coded (SFBC) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems are analysed in broadband wireless channels where adjacent subcarriers do not have the same channel coefficients and the matched filter receiver causes an error floor in bit error rate performance. To avoid this, a low complexity zero forcing (ZF) receiver for the orthogonal schemes with two and three transmit and one receive antennas are proposed.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 6Citation - Scopus: 11Adaptive Resource Allocation for Multicast Ofdm Systems With Multiple Transmit Antennas(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2006) Özbek, Berna; Le Ruyet, Didier; Khiari, HajerWe evaluate the impact of multiple transmit antennas on the performance of multicast OFDM systems by proposing a suboptimal low complexity algorithm. Associated with a powerful erasure code, it is possible to increase the data rate of multicast OFDM systems by selecting for each subcarrier to the users with a good channel condition. We show that the resource allocation which includes the precoding vector selection, subcarrier allocation and bit loading is a difficult optimization problem. We propose a suboptimal algorithm to solve this problem by avoiding the optimization to reduce complexity. When the users are not symmetrically distributed around the base station, we add a fair scheduler to guarantee that each user receives the same amount of data. We present simulation results where we compare the proposed multicast systems with the classical multicast OFDM systems. When the users are symmetrically distributed around the base station, the gain is rather small, whereas when the users are non-symmetrically distributed, the proposed algorithm outperforms OFDM systems with subcarrier allocation.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 7Pilot-Symbol Iterative Channel Estimation for Ofdm-Based Systems(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2005) Özbek, Berna; Le Ruyet, Didier; Panazio, CristianoIn this paper, we propose a pilot-symbol-aided iterative channel estimation for coded OFDM-based systems. We use the symbol APP provided by the channel decoder to form groups of virtual pilots. According to their reliabilities, we combine these groups to improve the channel estimation. We also compare the proposed algorithm with the EM algorithm. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based systems are strong candidates for an air interface of future fourth-generation mobile wireless systems which provide high data rates and high mobility. In order to achieve the potential advantages of OFDM-based systems, the channel coefficients should be estimated with minimum error. The channel estimation can be improved using more pilot symbols [1]. However, it causes data rate reduction or bandwidth expansion. Therefore, spectrally efficient channel estimation techniques should be considered. In this case, the iterative techniques provide an improvement on the channel estimator performance without requiring additional pilots.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 7The Adaptive Channel Estimation for Stbc-Ofdm Systems(İstanbul Üniversitesi, 2005) Özbek, Berna; Yılmaz, ReyatIn this paper, we propose adaptive channel estimation methods based on LMS and RLS for orthogonal STBC-OFDM systems with three transmit antennas. The performance of the proposed algorithms is obtained in the frequency selective channels using Hiperlan/2 characteristics.
