    Hareketli köprüler ilk zamanlar korunma ihtiyacı ile tasarlanmıştır. Modern zamanlarda ise ulaşımıkolaylaştırmak için geliştirilmeye devam edilmektedir. Sabit köprülerin aksine farklı kullanım senaryolarınıdesteklemeleri sebebiyle tercih edilmektedirler. Bu yazıda mevcut hareketli köprüler kinematik özellikleriaçısından tanıtılmış, hangi kullanım seneryolarını destekledikleri ve eksik kaldıkları yönler açıklanmıştır.Daha sonra güncel bir örnek olan Rolling Bridge'de kullanılmış strüktürel mekanizmanın tasarım prensiplerden yararlanarak, tüm kullanım senaryolarını destekleyen form değiştirebilen köprü için çokdevreli ve iki serbestlikli yeni bir strüktürel mekanizma önerilmiştir. Son olarak mekanizmanın pozisyonanalizi yapılarak Microsoft Excel® ortamında gerçekleştirilen grafik sunulmuştur

    A Critical Review on Classification and Terminology of Scissor Structures

    When the existing literature on the research of scissor structures is thoroughly investigated, it is seen that different researchers use different terminologies and classifications especially for the definition of the primary units and the motion type. Some of the studies define the whole geometry based on the geometric properties of the primary scissor units and the unit lines while some other studies define it according to the loops. All these studies use different names for similar elements. This article aims to review the literature on the classification and terminology of scissor structures and represent the state of art on the studies. Tables are represented showing all approaches in the literature. In addition, the article criticizes the missing points of each terminology and definition, and proposes some new terminology. In order to arrive at this aim, different definitions of the primary scissor units and motion types used in key studies in the literature are investigated thoroughly. With several examples, it is demonstrated that naming the scissor units according to the resulting motion type might be misleading and it is better to specify the motion type for the whole structure. A classification for transformation of planar curves is presented.

    Zu allen Zeiten haben Menschen versucht, flexible Gebäude zu bauen, die sich ständig verändernden Anforderungen und Umweltbedingungen anpassen. Die Einbeziehung von Bewegung in die Architektur ist der Versuch, auf veränderliche Umstände mit neuen Lösungen zu reagieren. Das Konzept der Bewegung ist in der Tat nicht neu für die Architektur. Die Wurzeln gehen bis in die Antike zurück. Einfache, mit flexiblen Außenhäuten gebaute Nomadenzelte können als das erste Beispiel für adaptive Strukturen angesehen werden, die zum Schutz vor extremen Umweltbedingungen dienten.1 Die zum Abdecken des Daches im Colosseum von Rom verwendeten Leinwandbahnen sind ein weiteres Beispiel. Sie bildeten Markisen, die nicht nur Sonnenschutz boten, sondern für die Zuschauer durch ihr Durchhängen zur Mitte hin auch eine Brise einfingen.

    Design of Single Degree-Of Planar Linkages With Antiparallelogram Loops Using Loop Assembly Method

    This research deals with the methodical derivation of single degree-of-freedom (dof) deployable and transformable linkages with antiparallelogram loops. The study starts with the review of literature on the mechanisms used in planar deployable structures, scissor mechanisms in particular. Scissor mechanisms have been subject of many research, including those that examine them in term of the loops formed. In this research, a summary of the loops observed in previous researches are mentioned. The simplest single-dof linkage is the four-bar linkage. Its loop geometry is quadrilateral. The loops defined formerly in the deployable structures literature are compared to the geometries classified under quadrilaterals and seen that use of antiparallelogram loops are yet to be discovered. While forming novel linkages with antiparallelogram loops, the loop assembly method that Hoberman utilized during his discovery of angulated scissor linkages is used. In order to lay out alternatives of loop arraying options, pattern generating methods are examined. Frieze group operations are found to be most suitable. Using those, loop assembly variations are formed. Later, links formed by these arrays are determined and linkages are formed, modelled and simulated using Solidworks®. Among many alternatives, five of them are chosen due to their novelties in specific aspects. In conclusion findings are compared to the previous research in the literature. Potentials of the novel linkages in terms of architecture are discussed and further research subjects are offered.

    Design of Anti-Parallelogram Loop Assemblies

    Scissor mechanisms are frequently used for deployable structures and many studies have been conducted on the subject. Most of the studies consider scissor units as modules in the design process. An alternative approach is to utilize loops as the modules for design. In this paper, the design alternatives of single degree-of-freedom planar linkages comprising anti-parallelogram loops using the loop assembly method is presented. First, scissor mechanisms are reviewed. Next, the types of four-bar loops and the resulting linkages in the literature are introduced and those which are yet to be explored, anti-parallelogram being one of them, are identified. Then the loop assembly method and the examples in the literature are reviewed. As a method to form as many alternatives as possible, symmetry operations are proposed. Suitable frieze symmetry groups utilized for obtaining the assemblies are explained and the anti-parallelogram loop patterns are derived. Next, the single degree-of-freedom linkages are obtained from the loop assemblies. Finally, a selection of the resulting linkages with novel properties are presented. This study shows that loop assemblies are efficient in systematic type synthesis of scissor linkages, some types of which could not be foreseen by using units as modules.

    Radially Expandable Ring-Like Structure With Antiparallelogram Loops

    As they constitute a substantial percent of deployable structures, scissor mechanisms are widely studied. This being so, new approaches to the design of scissor mechanisms still emerge. Usually design methods consider the scissor elements as modules. Alternatively, it is possible to consider the loops as modules. In this paper, loop assembly method is used such that antiparallelogram loops are placed along a circle, to construct a deployable structure. The research shows that it is possible to construct radially deployable structures with identical antiparallelogram loops with this method. Then kinematic and geometrical properties of the construction are analyzed. It is found out that the links of such a structure turn out to be similar generalised angulated elements. Furthermore, similar loops are used for the construction and deployable rings are obtained.

    A Case Study on the Selection of Optimum Loop Units for the Deployable Arch Structures Exposed To Lateral and Non-Uniform Gravity Loads

    Radially deployable arches may be created by using various types of units. However, for any deployable structure to be constructed in real life, it should satisfy the structural regulations and codes. Despite various advantages from architectural perspective, deployable structures are weak to satisfy the operational code limits when compared to trusses with similar height and span. Therefore, weight minimization is very important to reduce the dead loads of the structure which facilitates the code-conformance of the structure. The optimization of the deployable structures requires an initial selection of the loop types to define the structure parametrically. An initial selection strategy depending on the loads on the structure is important to increase the efficiency of optimization process. Under uniform gravity loads, optimum arrangement for each unit type converges to a similar point. However, in the real world, the loads on the arches are not always uniform and the structure is exposed to nonuniform loadings such as point loads or lateral loads. This work focuses on the performance of various arches with different unit types under lateral and non-uniform vertical loads. Different lateral load and non-uniform gravity loading scenarios are created. For each scenario, the arches with different units are analyzed. In all cases, clear span and height are kept as same. The performance of an arch with a specific unit type for a given load is measured with a score that includes the deformations and the weight of the structure. All the members are assumed to be circular hollow sections with variable diameter and thickness to have a meaningful weight comparison between structures. This work intends to define an initial selection guide for deployable arches under typical non-uniform and lateral loading conditions. (C) 2020 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

    Yeni Çift Düzlem-Simetrili Çift-Küresel 6R Katlanabilir-Plaka Ağlarının Geliştirilmesi

    Katlanmış-plak strüktürler, daha az malzeme ihtiyacı ve ek kaplama/giydirme gerektirmemesi nedeniyle daha hafif, daha hızlı ve daha ucuz bir inşa sunar. Katlanabilir-plak sistemleri, katlanmış-plakların bu avantajlarına ek olarak hareket kabiliyeti de sağlayarak tasarıma sürdürülebilirlik ve uyarlanabilirlik kazandırır. Ancak, pek çok parçadan oluşmaları veya hareketlerinin hesaplanmasını ve kontrolünü önemli ölçüde zorlaştıran birden fazla serbestlik-derecesine(SD) sahip olmaları nedeniyle mimaride yaygın değildirler. Bu tezin amacı, tek SDye sahip yeni katlanabilir-plak ağları oluşturmaktır. Bennett tarafından tanımlanan çift küresel 6R ünitesi, tek-SD ve düz-katlanırlık olmak üzere çeşitli özellikleri nedeniyle modül olarak seçilmiştir. Analiz, modülün geometrik ve kinetik özelliklerinin tanımlanmasıyla başlar. Değişkenler ve yapısal parametreler belirlenir. Hem değişkenlere hem de yapısal parametrelere çeşitli değerler verilerek sonuçlar incelenir. Bağlantılar arasındaki açılar ve mesafeler geometrik olarak analiz edilir ve parametrik bir model oluşturulur. Sonraki aşamada, modül simetri işlemleri kullanılarak çoğaltılırken, oluşturulan ağlarda modüllerin elemanları birleştirilerek tek-SD korunur. Tüm olası ağların geometrik ve kinematik özellikleri incelenir ve kısıtlar belirlenir. Malzeme seçimi ve yük taşıma kapasitesinin hesaplanması gibi uygulamaya yönelik koşullar, her uygulama için büyük ölçüde farklılık gösterdiğinden, çalışmanın kapsamına alınmamıştır. Ortaya çıkan ağlar, yatay ve düşey yönlerde hem düz hem de eğrisel açılım, çift eğrilik ve dönüşler dahil olmak üzere geniş bir hareket kapasitesi sunar. Ağlar ayrıca geniş bir form yelpazesi de sunar. Son kısımda, vaka çalışmaları olarak, gelecekteki mimari kullanımlar için bazı ön tasarımlar sunulmaktadır.

    Scissor Linkages in the Design of Adaptive Morphologies

    Scissor linkages are capable of forming various expandable structures. Architects can benefit from this type of linkage especially for designing adaptive, movable, transformable shell structures and deployable beam-like structures. Product designers may benefit as well. The two different methods described here convey the basic design approaches. The unit-based method is very effective for obtaining primary geometries like a dome, arch, circle or line, using serial multiplications and arrays of one of the scissor unit types presented here. The loop assembly method is more convenient when a final form, be it straight or free-form, is the main point of departure. In this case, unlike in the unit-based method, it is not necessary to opt for a specific scissor unit type and its dimensional constraints from the beginning. Designers can choose a type and number of loops and then define the scissor units following the loop sides. Since deployability is guaranteed by applying this method, the architect is free to choose the loop type most suitable for the functional needs and aesthetic concerns of the specific design. With the loop assembly method all loop alternatives can be assembled to scissor structures, their possible motions can be tested and evaluated in a short time, whereas the unit-based method is limited to a single type of motion that a specific unit can provide.

    Dynamic Shelter Structure

    Dynamic building envelopes have entered the mainstream practice of architecture in the last decades. Such dynamic systems are capable of changing their geometric configurations repeatedly and reversibly relative to environmental conditions and occupant requirements. Thus, they may offer innovative building solutions by folding, expanding or curling. This study proposes a dynamic shelter structure that provides several shape options in response to the changing needs. In order to generate the shelter structure, first, loop assembly method used for developing the structure is introduced. Then, a parametric model is built in Grasshopper® not only to analyze the geometric properties of the loops and their alternative geometric forms but also to develop a flexible tool allowing changes at topological, geometrical and structural levels. Based on the geometric analysis, the structural mechanism is constructed. Transformation capability and possible configurations are studied. The proposed structure can transform itself into multiple forms (from planar configuration to S-shaped and reversed S-shaped configurations) with single DOF although the existing single DOF scissor structures can deploy between two geometric shapes. © 2019 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
